The IE Tournament wasted no time revealing the next wave of talent. From freshmen playing with surprising poise to underclassmen stepping confidently into expanded roles, the floor was filled with young standouts who looked nothing like their age. These athletes played with energy, toughness, and a competitive edge that demanded attention. Some brought steady leadership, letting their play speak louder than their voices. Others supplied spark-plug moments, turning momentum with a single possession. A few flashed big-game confidence, showing the fearlessness needed to attack established programs without blinking. What made this group special was not just their production, but their intent — the willingness to rebound against size, penetrate against pressure, shoot without hesitation, and compete with a maturity usually seen in upperclassmen. Their performances weren't accidents; they were glimpses into what's coming next across the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='1261851' first='Shea' last='Donovan'] faced Cardinal Mooney on Day One and the young guard never flinched. From the opening whistle, Donovan attacked the defense with confidence, got downhill all night and put consistent pressure on the rim. Her ability to penetrate the paint created problems- possession after possession, forcing rotations and opening up clean looks for her teammates. Several of the team's corner jumpers were a direct result of Donovan's deep paint penetration — collapsing the defense, kicking out with precision, and reading the floor like a seasoned guard. Even when Mooney adjusted, she kept coming, using her quickness and aggressive mindset to stay a step ahead. What stood out most was her fearlessness. Against a tough, disciplined defending State Champion team, Donovan played with poise, pace, and purpose, showing that she is more than capable of rising to the moment.

[player_tooltip player_id='912252' first='Naomi' last='Gill'] put on a class on "how to be impactful as a Freshman" on Day One of the Inside Exposure tournament. I sat with a college coach who understood why her coach would run isolation plays with the young guard. Gill hit from the top, the elbow, took the opponent to the rim and scored in the paint. One play that comes to mind was a penetration move into the paint, then a jump stop, head fake, and a spin followed by the left hand (off-hand) finish. Gill showed why she is one of the top Freshman on not just the First Coast, but in the State of Florida. Her defense was also on point- showing quickness, cutting off driving angles, and showcasing excellent lateral movement as she wreaked havoc on opposing guards. Gill delivered an impressive performance in her very first high school tournament. A Statement was made- and with an exclamation!

At times [player_tooltip player_id='968076' first='Alysya' last='Smith'] made great plays and looked like the best player on the floor, and then at times you could see the work in progress. Her speed was disruptive and her confidence on the floor was impressive to see. She created havoc on the court and shifted momentum with her quick hands and speed to chase down ball handlers from behind. Her team overcame a 10 point deficit largely because of Smith's athleticism and court speed. Offensively, she had some nice aggressive moves to the rim. She didn't score on all of them, but her ability to get in the paint and get quality looks was on display. The Sophomore guard's performance was overall impressive. Her ability to take sideline correction and apply it on the court was as impressive as anything. She is a young and exciting player who will have a huge impact on a talented team that is 8- 10 deep. That along speaks of the trust they have in the young and exciting Sophomore guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='1276606' first='Kayla' last='Reddick'] was very impressive on Day One of the Inside Exposure Thanksgiving Classic. The play that stands out was her big shot in overtime that swung momentum. It wasn't just the shot, but the poise and the confidence that stood out. Reddick played well for the entire game: ball handling, handled the press, played in sync with teammates, and was ferocious on defense. Her poise against an athletic and fast team that usually speeds teams up was as impressive as the overtime dagger. Reddick was poised beyond her years and fearless when the game was on the line.

On this play you could see the pace, the poise, and the decision making. Wilson has speed, quickness, and the competitive edge that makes her one of the top young guards in the area. A few plays later, Wilson maneuvers through the defense and stops and pulls up for a contested midrange. The Freshman guard isn't just keeping up — she's proving she can make plays in big moments against top-tier talent.
