23rd Classic In The Country Challenge – 2028s On the Rise

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Girls Hoops covered the 23rd Annual Classic In the Country Challenge that took place inside the Perry Reese JR Community Center at [program_tooltip program_id='712419' first='Berlin' last='Hiland'] High School. This was a three day event that took place over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday that celebrated Dr. King's social impact on society and the great hospitality of the wonderful Amish Country community. These three days featured 22 games that highlighted many of the top high school programs in the state of Ohio across all divisions. She is a capable scorer in the post and isn't afraid of extending her range to knock down a three-pointer! Maddox greatly impresses defensively being a pressure defender and lockdown in the post tallying four steals in the win versus Carrollton. She shined scoring in double figures and shot a very clean 5/7 from the field. She can get it done on both ends of the floor either attacking the basket and scoring or through setting up teammates off her dribble penetration. Harper loves to grab rebounds and push in transition as she secured six defensive boards and eight points in the win versus Medina! As a 6 foot combo guard, she can do it all! She demonstrated this weekend that she can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim finishing with ease while also stepping out and hitting the three-pointer. Blankenship seems to always rise to the challenge when facing a tough opponent and shining when the lights are brightest! She has a pure stroke from deep and also loves to crash the glass and push the ball in transition. She is an electric scoring guard who commands a great deal of defensive attention when she is on the floor. Bunsold is a two-way matchup challenge at 5'9" who makes defenses have to respect both her ability to attack the basket as well as her ability to distribute the ball. Leading the Golden Eagles at over 20 points per contest, she is a true three-level threat on the basketball court! Bunsold displayed her outstanding shooting and chemistry with her teammates in the win versus Fairland. She makes big impacts on both ends of the floor being asked to play heavy minutes for the Blue Streaks. Wilson is solid post defender who moves her feet very well for her age. She is willing to battle on the glass for offensive rebounds collecting three in the game versus Milford. Wilson also sees the floor well at 5'10" getting the ball to her teammates in position to score. She is also continuing to improve on the offensive side of floor as a reliable scorer. Being 5'11" and showing the ability to shoot from deep puts her in a different category amongst her peers! Harris is also a rebounding magnet who attacks the glass with purpose and get the ball to her guards quickly. Her efforts were on display as she flirted with a double double with seven points and rebounds a piece in the double digit win versus Berea-Midpark. Defensively, Harris also shined with four steals demonstrating she is a relentless worker on that end of the floor as well. Mishler tallied the second highest point total of the weekend finishing with 31 points and was unstoppable on the offensive end all game! She knocked down five three-pointers both off the dribble and catch and shoot! Mishler also got her teammates involved finishing with three assists in the win. The sophomore shooting guard made noise on the brightest of stages in a memorable way with her ability to attack the basket as hit timely jump shots. She finished with nine points and four rebounds and displayed even as an underclassmen that she is capable of having a big impact in large minutes! Gracemyer has good size for a combo guard at 5'7" and displays good ballhandling and self-creation for her age. She lacks no confidence calling her own number and creating opportunities for herself to score. She finished 10 rebounds with three coming on the offensive glass! Weitz also made her defensive impact felt forcing two steals in the game versus Notre Dame Academy. Her offensive game continues to show potential as she isn't afraid of attacking the defense and drawing fouls. She can be a fortress defensively with her ability to move her feet and switching on the perimeter. She demonstrated she is able to attack the basket as well as knock down the three-pointer off the catch an shoot. The underclassmen provided solid production on both ends of the floor in extended minutes for Mason recording two made baskets and two rebounds including one coming on the offensive glass. Davis looks to only be tapping the surface of her potential on the offensive end. Hargraves flat out gets it done and makes dramatic impacts for the Firebirds on both ends of the floor! The sophomore had a standout performance with a 14 point and 11 rebound double-double in Fairmont's win over Western Reserve on MLK Jr. Day! Hargrave's has a very complete and mature game for a sophomore who consistently displays it each time out. She showed outstanding energy as a three-level scorer being able to attack the basket and score off the catch and shoot. Hargrave's fingerprints were all over the box score as also contributed with four assists and two steals as well in the huge win. In their game versus Portsmouth she finished with 12 points and also showed she can distribute the ball well with four assists! I'm also a fan of her high motor and energy that she brings to the floor being able to crash the glass and push the ball in transition. Benjamin has an advantage with her natural measurements being able to have an elite impact on both ends of the floor. She brings a consistent scoring presence for Sycamore generating 12 points while knocking down four three-pointers! I was also impressed with her defense and ability to pressure the ball, forcing a turnover. Her ability to knock down shots from deep at 5'8" leaves me to believe she has a very high offensive ceiling. I was also impressed with her court vision finding her teams for three assists in the game. She greatly impressed on the defensive end finishing with three steals showing she can greatly impact that end of the floor with her size rebounding the ball and as a pressure defender! I have continued to be impressed with her ability to just make the decision to take over the game at any given point in the contest. Mason's offensive game has very few holes and teams have to completely formulate their defensive gameplan around stopping her!
