Below are a few teams to keep your eyes on as March gets closer:

4A George Washington

George Washington is one of the hottest teams in the state. Recently, I watched the Lady Patriots play against Saint Albans. This team was without [player_tooltip player_id='718028' first='Jeriyah' last='Pryor'], & they still dominated in all facets of the game. I love the way this team moves the ball. I have watched numerous games and you can't count the possessions when every player touches the ball on offense. This team is playing extremely tough defense! George Washington has started the season at 16-0. [player_tooltip player_id='721985' first='Rayana' last='Breckenridge'] is playing at an extremely high level. In my opinion, Rayana is one of the best in the state. [player_tooltip player_id='728689' first='Mattie' last='Sosebee'] is taking care of all of the hustle stats. Sosebee recently finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist, and 1 block against St. Albans. The young freshmen are not playing like freshmen! This is a team to make note of now because we will see them in March and they will be the team to beat!

4A Morgantown

Despite their most recent loss to Greenbrier East, Morgantown is doing an excellent job without their star player, [player_tooltip player_id='722078' first='Kayli' last='Kellogg']. This team is one of the most patient teams that I have watched. They are smart, and patient on offense. Each player understands their role and each player knows what they are capable of when playing together. Morgantown was really close to knocking off Greenbrier East in over time. However, this team continues to learn and get better. Sydney Deuesenberry, [player_tooltip player_id='1118603' first='Brenna' last='Nelson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1268348' first='Ava' last='Clinton'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1224988' first='Carper' last='Messerly'] are all doing a solid job and owning their roles. Young and Tingler both do a great job in the paint area. This team continues to compete and we will see this team in March! Below is one of their tough players:

Have you watched this freshman? All next level coaches should. The poise that Madison plays with is not the poise of a freshman. Ancell is a smart athlete and her shot is as smooth as silk. She does an outstanding job of getting to her spot and knocking down shots. She scored all 13 of her teams' 1st quarter points against Greenbrier East. She finished the game with 24 points, knocking down 6 long balls!

3A Greenbrier East

This team recently beat 4A Morgantown in a close one at the Battle for the Springhouse to remain undefeated. This team is extremely fun to watch. East has the electric, tenacious guard [player_tooltip player_id='496348' first='Kennedy' last='Stewart']. [player_tooltip player_id='570494' first='Hannah' last='Fuller'] has a great touch around the rim on offense. Fuller is one of the best rebounders on the court, and she is an excellent rim protector. [player_tooltip player_id='1220928' first='Sandy' last='Banton'] and Mackenna McClure are two players that every team needs to have. Give Banton and McClure ALL of the hustle stats! Waller comes off the bench and provides big time minutes. Below is one of their leaders:

Workman is exactly as advertised. She is an excellent, all-around athlete who leaves her entire heart on the floor! Ava makes the smart decisions that create wins for her team. Workman continues to stay consistent in all facets of the game. She is an outstanding two-way athlete and she continues to perfect her craft. Ava's effort and IQ stands out every time that she is on the floor. She recently eclipsed her 1000th career point against Morgantown. This kid is unstoppable driving to the basket on the right side. She knows exactly how to attack the rim and get to the line. She finishes strong around the basket. Don't overplay because she can definitely get to the rim going left. Offensively, she is going to get hers and she is not going to be stopped. She poured in 30 points in the championship win at the Battle for the Springhouse; including the game winning score! The day before, Workman poured in 27 points to beat Riverside. All college coaches need to get eyes on this one now!

2A James Monroe

What more can we say about the Dunlap sisters? [player_tooltip player_id='723940' first='Mya' last='Dunlap'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1227925' first='Lydia' last='Dunlap'] are both standout athletes for this James Monroe squad. Lydia leads the team in scoring, rebounds, and steals. Rileigh Jackson is owning her role and doing a great job helping this team wherever they need her. Peighton Griffith, [player_tooltip player_id='1263895' first='Trinity' last='Hill'], Monaka Moore, and the entire James Monroe squad is stepping up. James Monroe will be a team that we will see play in March. This is a well-rounded team that knows exactly how to play together! Below is their point guard:

Long is playing exceptional for James Monroe. She knows how to control the tempo and pace of the game. She has put up a few big numbers to start the season. Long scored 25 points, added 4 assists, 4 steals, and 7 rebounds in a win over Summers County. Long is averaging over 11 points per game. She is also averaging 4.8 steals per game. I love the defensive intensity that Kendall plays with! When March comes, Kendall is a name to know on this tough James Monroe squad!
