The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, with many clubs attending more than one tournament. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.

After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 191 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Taking data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes into consideration, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, my expectations moving forward are that there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class.
Malena has the athletic build, strength, physicality, length, and toughness inside that you need to have as a forward prospect. She's active on the boards and finishes through contact around the basket. Malena was a Top Performer on the PGH Circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='715424' first='The' last='Naturals'] and will be a name that rises up recruiting boards as coaches watch her play.

Sage is one of the best forward prospects that people don't know about because she's not playing travel basketball right now. She's a very talented softball prospect as well. Sage has 6-foot length, pushes the ball in the open court with pace, finishes with strength around the basket, blocks shots, causes disruptions in the passing lanes, and can shoot mid-range/three point jumpers. If she played travel right now, everybody would know who she is. She has the potential to develop into a wing and move up as we watch her play against college-level players.

Marissa made a great first impression during a high school game for Fowlerville as a freshman. She continued to show her next-level potential at AAU practice and tournaments during the spring. Marissa can play the dunker role inside effectively, but she also has the versatility to create space off the dribble and sink threes. She's an athletic forward with length who will be an integral part of the Gladiators' lineup.

Alexis towers over most high school and AAU forwards at her age with 6-foot-plus length. Her stocky and strong build makes defending her in the post a daunting task. Alexis gives teammates an easy passing target, establishes inside positioning, and catches passes with strong hands to score high-percentage layups off two feet in the paint. She uses effective drop steps to get the scoring angle and finishes with good touch off the glass. Alexis has been a consistent Top Performer for [program_tooltip program_id='1239258' first='HB' last='Elite'] on the PGH Circuit and has a high ceiling at her height as a forward prospect.

Katie had another memorable showing on the PGH Circuit this spring. She delivered a Gold Championship Game MVP performance for MBA UA Rise 15U at the Michigan State Tournament. Katie has another gear that she competes in on the court, which combines with her physical strength, athleticism, and mobility to give opponents more than they can handle in the paint. She's very effective with her back to the basket or as a face-up driver. Katie doesn't stop until she gets to the free throw line or puts the ball through the hoop. She's a relentless rebounder and a very good defender in the post. Katie can develop into a stretch four by expanding her perimeter game, which will make her even more appealing as a next-level prospect.

Selia had a fantastic showing for Portland at the Big North Shootout. She was outright dominant in the paint and appears to be their next great forward prospect. Selia is physical, long, already has good footwork, works hard as a rebounder, defends, and protects the rim. She has strong hands and goes up off two feet to score efficiently in traffic. Selia is a prospect who has the potential to keep rising, and she's headed for a breakout sophomore year.
