SC Recruiting Notebook for Oct. 12

The start of the regular season across South Carolina – and the nation – continues to inch closer and closer and closer.

By this same time next month, the hype machine will be in full force and several schools will prepare to host jamboree events before the real thing gets underway – usually around the week of Thanksgiving.

The days and weeks that occur prior to the start of a season can especially be a busy one on the recruiting trail as many a senior decides to make their collegiate intentions known before that first tip-off. Here is our mid-October latest from said recruiting trail of the Palmetto State.

“Where are you going to go to school?” was the hottest topic around the halls of 4A South Pointe for the last couple of months. Cunningham answered that question on Sunday when she announced she will bring her talents to Alabama and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The previous weekend was a busy one for the Stallions veteran big as her commitment occurred a day after she was in North Charleston for her final South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA) Elite Camp. Cunningham's travel career has spanned several teams – including Queen City Ballers, FBC and, most recently, Her Elite. She averaged a double-double of 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds last season plus 2.7 steals and 1.8 assists. Cunningham is the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder and will lead a South Pointe assembling that will enter the 2026-27 season with 4A state championship expectations. Cunningham is ready for the SEC, but is the SEC ready for Cunningham?

When the 2026-27 season concludes for Godfrey at 5A River Bluff, she will begin her transition to life at North Greenville University. The veteran star Gators guard announced her commitment for both basketball as well as flag football – another sport she has recently taken up at River Bluff. With her grassroots career with [program_tooltip program_id='713550' first='Palmetto' last='76ers'] in the rear-view mirror, she is looking ahead to her senior season in a Gators uniform. Last season, Godfrey played in all 26 of the Gators' contests while averaging 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game. Following three scrimmages, Godfrey and her Gators will commence their regular season on Nov. 20 on the road at Ridge View.

Moore was another top-tier senior guard to make her collegiate intentions known this past week. She also decided to remain in-state as the 5A Dorman star will bring her hoops talents to Claflin. Representing the Palmetto State's largest high school, Moore ran with Carolina All-In over the spring and summer months of AAU on the New Balance Lady P32 circuit and has the upcoming season with the Cavaliers on the brains. Moore was part of a stellar 2025-26 assembling that advanced to last season's 5A Division 1 Upper State semifinals. She averaged 13 points, 3.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 steals per matchup last season.

It was another week of Power Four conference offers for the sophomore star guard from 5A Goose Creek. The two latest schools to extend offers in Dates' direction were Texas A&M and Michigan State. Dates recently took part in an A1 Hoops Fall League event at Brookland-Cayce and also received an invite to the Wooten 150 camp. The FBC United name is looking ahead to the 2026-27 season with the Gators following a 2025-26 where she led Goose Creek to the 5A Division 2 Lower State championship game. Dates averaged 20 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.8 assists per game last season.

Back in June, Delly received an offer from Voorhees. Recently, Delly secured another in-state offer courtesy of Morris College. She was one of the signature transfers of the offseason as she brought her talents from a 2A Andrew Jackson team that was an Upper State finalist last season to Legion Collegiate. The Lancers have rejoined the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) as a 4A team. Delly is a multi-sport athlete who has also played flag football in addition to her basketball achievements. Delly averaged 13.2 points, five steals, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in her junior season with the Volunteers.

We spotlighted Tisdale as having one of the signature performances of any 2028 this past weekend at the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA) Elite Camp. Back in early September, she was another that garnered an in-state offer courtesy of Voorhees. The Charlotte Monarchs product is set to be the featured name for a 1A Division 1 Latta team that put together a solid 20-5 season in 2025-26. Tisdale proudly sported Vikings green and gold in all 25 of the team's contests last season while averaging a double-double of 14.6 and 13.6 rebounds plus 3.2 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per matchup.

Hobson was another of the veteran names that made her presence known this past weekend in North Charleston at the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA) Elite Camp. She is a multi-sport athlete who also competes in track in addition to basketball – and is receiving collegiate offers for both athletic disciplines. In late August, Hobson secured a hoops offer from Voorhees and added a track offer to her resumé in mid-September from Spartanburg Methodist. Hobson is entering her senior season with a Lugoff-Elgin team that had one of its more successful campaigns in recent memory in 2025-26. She averaged 9.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.7 steals, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per contest last season.

Speaking of track offers, one also was secured by the star frontcourt force for Seneca from Erskine back in July. Weston is another who has partaken in multiple sports throughout her career. In addition to track and hoops, Weston has also played volleyball. She is returning for the 2026-27 season with a Seneca team that dropped in classification from 4A to 3A. Weston competed in all 27 of the Bobcats' contests last season and was one of five from the class of 2027 on last season's Seneca assembling. She averaged a team-leading 10.1 rebounds and 8.9 points per matchup throughout 2025-26.

An impressive showing over the weekend at the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA) Elite Camp in North Charleston resulted in Dunbar landing her second collegiate offer courtesy of Voorhees. She also has another from Denmark Tech as part of her resumé. Dunbar was one of four coach Kenny Orr's 5A Rock Hill team that were on hand at the Elite Camp. One of the state's premier veteran frontcourt forces, she has particularly developed over the years as a rebounder. Dunbar competed in 27 games last season in a Bearcats uniform and averaged 10.6 rebounds, seven points and 1.7 steals per matchup.
