showed her versatility and resilience in the 5A semifinals and finals, scoring 25 points in the two games against some of the best and most experienced guards in the state. It wasn’t a cake walk, and that’s what made Thomas’s performance special – she competed. There were plays where the opponent got the best of her, and then Thomas would come down and get the best of her opponent- that’s the competition that brought the best out of Thomas. She utilized her speed, good ball handling, trust in her teammates, and an impressive basketball IQ – anticipating and reacting under pressure. Thomas finished with multiple rebounds and defensive stops, showing the ability to defend, rebound, and contribute in transition and offense- when the opportunities presented themselves. Her speed and athleticism allowed her to cover ground defensively and create transition chances for her team. Thomas didn’t disappoint – she competed and in the end made enough plays to shift momentum and ultimately impact the final outcome – a state championship.
