Granted, I was slow to the game with Mount, but her rise up the list is drastic. She combines brute strength and touch in a way that not many can do. Mount reads the ball off the rim and gets after it. When she gets an offensive rebound, it feels like her put back attempt is off her finger tips before it even gets there. That makes for a lot of high percentage looks.
Andrews has really put it all together this spring and summer. She has definitely increased her overall athleticism and has figured out how to use it as a strength in her game. Andrews can create off the bounce and has a nice looking step back jumper that she keeps very balanced. She added a lot of value to her game and to herself as a prospect.
Washington rose up the rankings and showed next level coaches what her game is all about. Her performance at the PGH Michigan Top 250 really helped her rise. Let’s face it, Washington had one of the best days in the gym and showed that she could control a game when the ball was in her hands. She’s a part of a defending state champion squad and it’s easy to see how she would be a big part of that.
LaPrairie is the perfect example of what grassroots season and showcase season can do for a players stock as a prospect. She showed some really nice dribble drive moves that showed off some big improvements she’s made in her overall athleticism and ability to change direction. LaPrairie defended well and seemed willing to do the little things on the court that can make the difference between winning and losing.
Thelen just keeps proving herself as a basketball player. If a college coaches wants a quick and feisty lead guard, they can start their search here. She’s fast with the ball, but very efficient in how she gets it to where it needs to be. Thelen has touch on her passes and can get the ball in a small space. She’s a smart defender that does a nice job reading the pass and jumping it.
