Virginia High School Preview: Part 2

S3 academy

One a few prep schools in the state of Virginia, they come back with a great roster, and a heavy national schedule ahead of them. Sira Thienou Sira Thienou 5'11" | SF S3 Academy | 2024 State VA is a power five prospect who has now committed to Ole Miss ! A top three player in the state will probably get national recognition at season’s end. A big-time transfer Olivia Hillard Olivia Hillard 5'10" | PG S3 Academy | 2025 State VA , a top three player in the 2025 class that holds multiple division one offers, will be a key piece this season. And international transfer Harissoum Coulibaly Harissoum Coulibaly 5'10" | SG S3 Academy | 2025 VA has a full skillset package! Standing at 5’10 is a three level scorer, it’s early, but she is looking like a true division d 1 prospect.

The Steward School

This year with the current roster constructed, the Steward School is poised to make a run and is the favorite to win the division two VISSA This upcoming season. This team is going to go how far top-flight Prospect Sanai Green Sanai Green 6'0" | SF Steward School | 2026 State VA takes them! An elite player that will project to be a wing at the next level will be virtually unstoppable at this level. Veteran guard Tori West Tori West 5'4" | PG Steward School | 2024 State VA will have to provide backcourt leadership versus the tougher competition. Two big-time transfers will help Stewart’s front court no doubt! Brooklyn Kavanaugh Brooklyn Kavanaugh 6'2" | PF Steward | 2026 State VA and Ava Johnson Ava Johnson 6'2" | PF Steward School | 2025 State VA give this team legit size but point production needs to come from the offensive as well. 

James River High School

One of the top high school girls programs in the city of Richmond, Virginia, James River high school walks into this season with some really good talent. It starts with US Olympic gold medalist Lanie Grant Lanie Grant 5'9" | PG James River HS | 2025 State VA . The 5’9 junior guard has been committed to the University of North Carolina since her freshman year! One of the biggest transfer moves in the city was Seimone Newton Seimone Newton 5'10" | SF James River HS | 2025 State VA joining this program. At 5’11 great athlete with multiple Division I offers is an elite player that will be a boost to this roster this upcoming season. A lot of veteran pieces return to this roster as well but it also looks like James River will have to rely on some young players. Watch out for Mila Spencer Mila Spencer 5'9" | SG James River | 2027 State VA , incoming freshmen with good size for a combo guard and can be a good contributor this season.

Thomas Dale High School

Arguably one of the most athletic rosters in the state of Virginia. Thomas Dale is loaded with young talent on this roster. Nylah Wilson Nylah Wilson 5'8" | CG Thomas Dale | 2025 State VA is an electric guard that can change the game on both ends of the floor. Syvannah Dawson Syvannah Dawson 5'6" | PG Thomas Dale HS | 2026 State VA , a top three player in the state in her class, arguably one of the top players in the state of Virginia, regardless of class. Alexandria Broadus Alexandria Broadus 6'1" | PF Thomas Dale | 2026 State VA 6’1 power forward will have to anchor the front court to make up for the lack of size, but I think that she will be able to hold the fort down. And incoming freshmen to Timani Harris Timani Harris 5'9" | CG Thomas Dale HS | 2027 State VA already is an elite basketball player with elite scoring skills and at the seasons I wouldn’t be surprised if her name is mentioned as one of the best players on the team!

Norfolk Christian

This program has slowly started from the ground up and now has collected a ton of young talent. Standing at 6’8 anchoring in the middle. Abuna Ruop Abuna Ruop 6'8" | C Norfolk Christian | 2026 State VA has developed into an elite rim defender, great rebounder and has taken her offensive game to the next level. Justice Brown-Jones Justice Brown-Jones 6'1" | CG Norfolk Christian | 2027 State VA a 6’1 point guard and elite high level player that can do it all on the court and is only a freshman, but is entering her second year as a starter in the program. 5’9 combo guard Ellery Giddens Ellery Giddens 5'9" | CG Norfolk Christian | 2027 State VA it’s a great player that is still developing. Arguably the highest IQ in the 2027 class has a really good skill set and already has a good solid frame! This team will be leaning on a lot of youth, but this will help develop character this year!

TPLS Christian Academy

A complete roster makeover, adding seven new players from last season. This team will be led by 5’10 sophomore combo guard VaNyah Otey VaNyah Otey 5'10" | CG TPLS Christian Academy | 2026 State VA . Lethal sharpshooter with great size. Already holds a Division I offer. Is the only returning starter from last season. The biggest addition in the off-season was 6’7 Emily Hunter Emily Hunter 6'7" | C TPLS Christian Academy | 2025 State VA who transfered from the state of Tennessee. Has elite size and is a really good athlete that can run the floor and control the offensive and defense of boards and is already averaging four blocks a game. Another key piece will be Donniya Mason Donniya Mason 5'10" | SF TPLS Christian Academy | 2027 State VA who is making the full time transitioning from power forward to the small forward. A good three-point shooter that will have to step up and be the third score on a young Lion team.

Centerville high school

A sleeper team in the northern Virginia area can possibly be Centreville high school. Returning good chemistry and is definitely motivated to make the mark this season in a deep postseason run. Kennedy Parrott Kennedy Parrott 5'10" | CG Centerville | 2025 State VA battled injuries, the most part of last year, but with her size and ability, she looks and projects to be a division one player. She’s not alone in the back court Sofia Caraus Sofia Caraus 5'9" | SG Centreville | 2026 State VA is a legit threat with combo guard ability and will have to step up as a primary scoring option for this team to go deep in a playoff run! The point guard show will be ran both by Jahniya Marion Jahniya Marion 5'5" | CG Centreville HS | 2024 State VA who has combo guard skills and Claire Kang Claire Kang 5'5" | PG Centreville | 2026 State VA who is a legit floor general that is flying under the radar and is underrated and has great point guard skills. Hannah Wakefield Hannah Wakefield 5'6" | SG Centreville HS | 2024 VA will have to contribute at a high-level as well. She is a great athlete that is a scrappy player with a high IQ and she is definitely the glue kid that can play multiple positions on the floor.
