Coming into this Update we have had some movement within our Top 5. Coming in at #5 and one of the most impressive PG’s I’ve had the chance to see this past season is Myleigh Weers Myleigh Weers 5’9″ | PG Diller-Odell | 2025 State NE of Diller-O’dell High School. Weers is a fast moving Guard, that has an act for being able to score and facilitate the rock. At the beginning of the season, I had a chance to see Weers compete and she did more than impress. She was one of the best players in the gym on the entire day, never letting up in any form or facet. She has a uniform handle, quick trigger from deep, an act for making something happen when her teams offense breaks down. During this high school season, Weers demonstrated all of this stuff to a T. She held her own, dominated her matchups, and her team won a good amount of games. When it comes to prospects with promising futures on the court, this is definitely one of them. Her skill stands out almost immediately while watching and I hope she continues with that momentum moving forward.
The Pender Pendragons brought home another State Title this Winter in their new Class, showing everyone watching that it doesn’t matter what Class they are in, they are going to dominate their opponents any chance they can get. One of their best and most important pieces to their puzzle is Guard, Maya Dolliver Maya Dolliver 5’7″ | PG Pender | 2025 State NE . Dolliver is efficient, smart, and calculated. She makes the most of her opportunities, while understanding to trust in the teammates around her. The best teams out there are the one’s that have star-players but those star players also trust in the others around them and this team embodies that. They have several prospects on roster that could go out each evening and have a record night so it just depends on who is feeling the best, that given evening. As for Maya individually, she is a hooper that can make an instant impact in almost any program. If she keeps working on the correct things this offseason, I’m sure her recruiting is going to continue to stay consistent all the way up until she commits to compete at the next level.
Highlights
At the end of the day, I’m not sure where Molly Ladwig Molly Ladwig 5’9″ | CG Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE is going to end up but wherever it is, they are getting a baller. Ladwig is a prospect that is years above her actual age level. She moves effortlessly with the ball in her hands while having the ability to be able to produce without scoring at a high rate. If you ever had a chance to watch Ladwig compete, you understand her best ability is scoring but its not her only ability. She is versatile in several different ways, including rebounding, facilitating, and defending the opposing teams best Guard. This Spring Ladwig will join up with her Nebraska Attack UAA team in hopes of bringing home another National Title. This program is one of the best I’ve seen from a completed product – stand point. If all the players can come back hungry and unsatisfied, it’s going to be a very interesting Spring out of Omaha.
Millard West put together one of the most impressive high school seasons throughout the State of Nebraska last season, bringing home a State title and putting up some really impressive numbers while doing it. The reason for their success is no surprise, it comes in the form of their impressive roster that holds SEVERAL collegiate level players. One of them being their starting PG, Norah Gessert Norah Gessert 6’0″ | PG Millard West | 2025 State NE . Norah is the player that keeps this group together. She brings up the ball, runs their offense, and at the end of the day – she is someone that everyone else on this team looks up too. This season for her was like all the others. She put up important numbers, she got her teammates involved at a high rate, and she never forced any action or caused issues because she wasn’t thinking things through. She demonstrated that she is very calculated in every move she makes, while also staying patient in all of her decision making and that’s what you want as a head coach. You need a smart Guard, that is going to do ANYTHING to help her team win and that’s Norah. Not to mention, she is skilled in her own right. She has a nasty handle and is swift with the ball. If we are talking about the best overall PG’s thourghout the state of Nebraska right now, Norah is definitely that conversation and that’s why she comes in at #2 in this Player Rankings Update for the 2025 Class.
The counterpart to Norah Gessert Norah Gessert 6’0″ | PG Millard West | 2025 State NE at the Guard position is her twin sister Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6’0″ | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE . Neleigh is a SG, that is very talented. She has great size at over 6’0, she can shoot the leather off the ball from any distance, and she can defender almost any position on the high school floor. This season Neleigh was sensational. There is no other way to put it. In every facet of the game, she killed it and her numbers reflected that all season long. This Spring I’m excited to see what Neleigh is going to be able to do. Their ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB 17U team is going to be one of the best rosters in the country on paper. If every player comes correct and they all have the common goal to dominant every night, they are going to be very tough to stop but as of right now, Neleigh is going to hold onto our #1 spot in this Rankings Update.
