While today's game is more predicated on guard play, frontcourt players still are holding their own in today's basketball landscape. Many hoops knowers around the state are familiar with names such as [player_tooltip player_id='324542' first='JaNyia' last='Cunningham'], Ava Rush, [player_tooltip player_id='496215' first='Ayona' last='Alexander'], [player_tooltip player_id='444371' first='Ashley' last='Walker'], [player_tooltip player_id='324541' first='Khalia' last='Hartwell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='651705' first='Imani' last='Levey'] whose names are somewhat well-established among South Carolina high school sports aficionados.

Here, we shift our focus to those veteran bigs that are more than poised to do what those aforementioned names have already accomplished.

The Cavaliers of 5A Division 1 Dorman, plush gym and all, are consistently in the contenders' conversation. White sporting the Cavaliers colors for her senior season will surely keep Dorman there. She began her career as a junior varsity player in the eighth grade and proved herself more than worthy of varsity status. White played in 27 of Dorman's 28 games last season and averaged 18.2 points per game plus 8.3 rebounds a contest. Collegiate interest is also on the rise for the [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] product as she was offered by Gardner-Webb at the conclusion of last month.

Speaking of frontcourt standouts who sport the [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] uniform during the spring and summer months of AAU, Joseph has put herself in that conversation of upper echelon talents statewide. Darlington made the jump from 3A to 4A this past season and Joseph's play helped the Falcons hold their own in a tough region that included the likes of South Florence, Lower Richland and Wilson. In addition to the near-double-double she averaged in 2024-25 with 16 points and 9.5 rebounds a game, Joseph is also a tall task to deal with on the defensive side of the floor. She averaged 2.8 steals and 2.2 rejections per contest.

The 5A Division 1 Panthers of Carolina Forest were able to lean on McLean en route to a stellar 25-4 record and a region championship by running the table in Region 6-AAAAA. She played in 28 games this past season and averaged 14.8 points and nine rebounds. McLean is another that is difficult to score against as evidenced by the 4.1 blocks she had in 2024-25. She is a multi-sport athlete who also competes in volleyball and track alongside her basketball accomplishments and is a two-time high jump state champion. McLean is another talent from the stacked [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] organization.

We at Prep Girls Hoops recently got a chance to watch Anderson on numerous occasions during this year's Circuit which [program_tooltip program_id='715412' first='SC' last='Eagles'] UA Rise 17U took part in. A 6-foot-1 veteran from another 5A Division 1 school in Lexington, Anderson was just shy of averaging a double-double for last season, posting numbers of 13.7 points and 9.9 rebounds for 2024-25. Her play had a massive impact on the Wildcats' fortunes last year – Lexington finished 18-6 last season which was a six-win improvement over the previous season. Anderson places plenty of emphasis on the fundamentals of the game.

Towards the conclusion of last month, Braddick announced that she had received a Division I offer from East Carolina. Her AAU career has included a stint with TMP/[program_tooltip program_id='713840' first='Charleston' last='Raptors'] and her high school career included a stint with 1A St. John's. Last season, Braddick was part of a First Baptist team that finished as SCISA 4A runners-up. She has played softball and basketball throughout her athletic career. A 6-foot-5 big that is a problem for opponents on either end of the floor, Braddick averaged 7.8 points and 6.5 rebounds a contest last season and her Hurricanes are sure to be 4A favorites once again in 2025-26.

Moore is another one of the notables from the [program_tooltip program_id='715412' first='SC' last='Eagles'] UA Rise organization that is certain to take a massive step forward in the upcoming seasons. We also had a chance to watch her during Prep Girls Hoops Circuit events and her play at the Triumph Region Finals in Columbus, Georgia earned her a spot on our 16U Second Team. Moore may be listed as a four, but she has displayed an ability to give a team productive minutes as a more conventional five. Moore plays with her back to the basket, will call for the ball and can convert on tough shots in the paint. She averaged 10 points and 5.9 rebounds in 22 games last season for the Yellow Jackets.
