USE CODE "tinnon30" FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

During the travel ball season, I saw a lot of kids grow. No, I am not talking about stature (which some have), but I am talking about their actual game. Their body of work was on full display as they hooped in various cities against tough competition. I know that this may sound cliché, but watching our young ladies, you could tell that they played with a lot more confidence, played more consistently, and had a certain type of gumption about them. Let me try to explain myself a little more. Kids who played solid roles for their high school team, maybe their 2nd or 3rd scoring options, were making a name for themselves and increasing their stocks. You saw kids take the next steps towards stardom and becoming a household name. Here is an example and someone you will see further along in my article.

Let's take Lipscomb for instance. They will probably be a final 4 contender and surely an Elite 8 finalist for state. This is their potential starting 5 roster:

[player_tooltip player_id='513237' first='Ava' last='Jarrett']-PG

[player_tooltip player_id='513243' first='Bella' last='Shepherd']-SG

[player_tooltip player_id='821870' first='Blake' last='Maple']-SF

[player_tooltip player_id='1055728' first='Lane' last='Smith']-PF

[player_tooltip player_id='513231' first='Anna' last='Williams']-C

Both Blake and Lane had tremendous travel ball seasons. Having a starting squad like that will make it hard for any school to match up with them 1-5. Take CPA for example, another school that will be a final four contender and surely an Elite 8 finalist. Here is their potential starting 5 when healthy:

[player_tooltip player_id='514119' first='Merli' last='Routh']-PG

[player_tooltip player_id='513275' first='Lily' last='Morrow']- SG (when she gets back from injury)

Charlie Rae Hutchison-SF (new transfer from Columbia Academy)

[player_tooltip player_id='822235' first='Jane' last='Ellis']-PF

[player_tooltip player_id='822224' first='Jayda' last='Robinson']-C

The point I am trying to make is this, girls who may have played contributor roles for their club last year, have taken the necessary steps to becoming household names. Now, these two schools are just two examples, but there are other schools out there who will have similar roster examples like these two. Also, there are multiple young ladies who have grinded their way this summer and will be focal points for their prospective clubs. Call them what you want, but I am going to tell you that these kids are gonna have breakout years and be important pieces to their prospective programs moving forward.

Here are a few kids who will have a breakout year this upcoming season.

This kid just has a solid overall game. She can do a multitude of things efficiently and effectively. She can score from all 3 levels, handle the ball, defend, just compete on both ends of the floor. She's the type of kid who plays with relentless energy. She's unselfish, doing whatever it takes to help her ball club win. She sacrifices her body by going after loose balls and taking charges. In my opinion, she is the glue that keeps everything together as she is willing and able to do whatever is asked of her. This kid has what it takes to play at the next level. A quiet kid whose games speak volumes.

This kid is a game-changer. A gym rat whose works translate to the actual game. She is a hungry competitor who can score the basketball from multiple spots on the floor. She defends like crazy and contributes in other aspects of the game. She is a heady ball player who makes the right plays at the right time. Plays with poise, passion, and leaves everything she has on the floor. Her stock is about to take off as she has been a proven commodity for some time now. She had a great travel ball season, and more coaches were able to lay eyes on her. Look for her to come out of the gates at a new school and be an impactful player. Great addition to the Lady Lions ball club.

High motor kid who is so athletic. Blessed with size and speed, this kid gets after it on both ends of the floor. Starting with the defensive side of the ball, she blocks shots and contributes big time on the glass. She's a rim runner who can get down the court and take a lop pass over the top to finish. She, too, can handle the ball and take someone off the dribble as well. If we are talking about the offensive side of the ball, she can dominate inside the arc, scoring in the paint or unleashing a nice mid-range jumper. She'll be suiting up Bartlett this upcoming season. Let's just say her addition gives them an even stronger push towards state contention. Solid kid who is a difference maker in more ways than one.

Had a summer where she shot from the arc at a consistent clip. This kid was playing with confidence, and she did so against some pretty tough matchups. Every time the ball touched her hand, it felt like it would find the bottom of the net. She's solid on both ends of the floor, but scoring the basketball at a high efficiency makes her even more deadly on the floor. Look for her to start the season hot and help Lebanon reach new heights as they take the next steps towards state contention.

Talk about a kid who is hot, this young lady is about to take the league by storm. A solid two-way player who can knock the 3 ball down efficiently or put it on the floor and finish at the rim. Her length poses as a threat as she gets steals and deflections like crazy. She had an awesome summer where she helped catapult both her travel ball team and became a big-time contributor for her school ball team. Look for her to carry this momentum along with her confidence into the school season and become an important piece of the Lady Patriots' attack. Solid ballplayer who is about to have a breakthrough season.
