Commitment Round Up

In August, the two top names in Oklahoma's Class of 2026 went off the board. With [player_tooltip player_id='572451' first='Kyiah' last='Prestridge'] committing to Arkansas and [player_tooltip player_id='572965' first='Maddi' last='Stewart'] committing to Nebraska. Even before the summer, there were a handful of 2026 prospects committed to D2 programs. With summer wrapped up and school ball quickly approaching, more Oklahomans have also picked their new schools.

At least four more Oklahomans will be joining Prestridge and Stewart at the D1 level. Unity duo [player_tooltip player_id='578026' first='Johari' last='Hall'] (Edmond North) and [player_tooltip player_id='396323' first='Mya' last='Alston'] (Mustang) will be heading east. With Hall committing to Lafayette and Alston committing to Quinnipiac. Stewart's high school teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='572964' first='Alexis' last='Leyva'] also is going D1. Leyva is heading just across the Northern boarder to Wichita State. In late August, tough Choctaw guard [player_tooltip player_id='576992' first='Aliyah' last='Duval'] made her decision with an in state commitment to Oral Roberts. Two of the next to make D1 decisions should be Puntam City North duo [player_tooltip player_id='572453' first='Jayla' last='Constant'] and [player_tooltip player_id='578034' first='Da'Nae' last='Jefferson'].

In small college recruiting news, Bethel's [player_tooltip player_id='574244' first='Ava' last='Gascon'] committed to in state D2 Cameron in Lawton. Collinsville's [player_tooltip player_id='573004' first='Hayden' last='McDowell'] is headed north to Friends (Kansas). We're now well into the double digit for Oklahomans committed at the small college level. With expectations that it should be over 50 Oklahomans who sign to continue their athletic and academic careers.

Camp Recaps

With school ball quickly approaching, the month of September was filled showcases camps. I would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the over 150 student-athletes who attended the two PrepGirlsHoops events this month. It was great to find new players to track, and seeing the progression of familiar faces. Continue to tag the @PGHOKlahoma and the @coachjvick1 accounts on X with highlights, stats, recruiting news and schedule updates this upcoming high school season. As the staff at PGHOklahoma will continue to do our best to promote the outstanding talent in Oklahoma.

Here's three prospects from this month's Expo that impressed with the development in their games.

Lamb is going to be the conversations for best shooters in the Class of 2028. She has an ice cold feeling to her shots. As she's not phased by close outs or big moments. Was dialed in from distanced during 3 on 3 play at the Expo. Impressively, she isn't just resting on her laurels as a sniper. Her handles are improving, including her crossover. Always seems to play under control, and has impressive feel for the game for her age. Was a key part in a runner up finish in 3A for the tradition rich Lady Indians program. Expect Lamb and fellow sophomore JuJu Davenport to have them making more trips east on I-40 in March for more State Tournaments.

Hazzard's game keeps evolving. She's been a classic post player, who can be a defensive anchor with boards and rim protector. While also scoring on the block by playing tougher then her frame would suggest. Combined with good touch around the basket. Now she's looking more mobile and agile. Showing glimpses of improved perimeter skills. She can rip and go from the top of the key, making her more of a face up forward. Cleary a player who is putting in the time in the gym, as she impresses in each viewing.

Good athlete, who has been a battler around the rim in previous viewings before the Expo. Ther had been hints that she could develop into more of a wing/stretch forward. In the past it was occasions of her hitting in the 15-18 feet range. But at the Expo she even was comfortable shooting from beyond the arc. As long as she stays true to her blue collar ways as a post presence, the occasional three is a very promising sign. McLoud is shaping up to have an outstanding core of 2027s prospects. And Nemecek is clearly making strides to elevate her and her team's ceiling as they battle in tough Class 4A.
