PGH Freshman Showcase: Danyle’s Top Performers

The 2029 Freshman Showcase brought together 93 rising prospects on August 30th, 2025, for a jam-packed four hours of high-level competition. The event featured a mix of predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups, allowing players to showcase their skills in various game settings. One of the things that sets Prep Girls Hoops showcases apart is that every participant receives individual write-ups — a rare and valuable opportunity for these young athletes. My coverage focused on Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10. I have selected Eleven Top Performers and one Most Valuable Prospect from these teams based on their performance at The Freshman Showcase.    Nylah earned MVP honors at the PGH Freshman Showcase with her dominant presence in the paint. A strong and physical post player, she controlled the boards on both ends, consistently outworking opponents for rebounds. She established deep position with smart seals, making herself an easy target inside. Once she got the ball, Nylah showed excellent touch around the basket, finishing smoothly with either hand. Her combination of strength, footwork, and finesse made her nearly unstoppable throughout the day.     OJ was a standout performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, showcasing her all-around game and high-level feel for the position. The athletic lefty guard handled the ball with confidence and control, creating opportunities for herself and her teammates. She attacked the rim in a variety of ways—whether breaking defenders down off the dribble or taking advantage of mismatches by posting up smaller guards. On the defensive end, OJ's awareness and anticipation stood out, as she came up with several steals and disrupted passing lanes throughout the day. Her versatility and basketball IQ made her one of the most impactful players on the floor.     Kinley was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, standing out with her athleticism and well-rounded skill set. The long, active guard scored at all three levels—hitting shots from beyond the arc, finishing strong at the rim, and making smart reads within the flow of the offense. Defensively, she used her length to disrupt passing lanes, collect deflections, and even swat a few shots. Kinley also made her presence felt on the boards, working hard to secure rebounds and keep possessions alive. Her energy and impact on both ends made her a constant difference-maker throughout the day.     Izzy was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, impressing with her poise, intelligence, and leadership at the point guard spot. She sees the floor exceptionally well and consistently made sharp reads to set up her teammates. With elite ball control and a lightning-quick first step, she broke down defenders and attacked the lane with balance and precision. On the defensive end, her quick hands and relentless energy allowed her to create turnovers and spark transition opportunities. Izzy's hustle, skill, and ability to elevate those around her made her one of the most impactful guards on the day.     Gabby was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, making a major impact in the post with her strength, skill, and presence. She showed advanced footwork around the basket, using smart positioning and patience to create high-percentage looks. With strong hands and a physical style of play, she finished consistently through contact and controlled the paint on both ends. Gabby was a force on the boards, cleaning up misses and securing second-chance opportunities for her team. Her vocal leadership and ability to seal off defenders made her a reliable and dominant presence in the interior all day long.     Mo'Riyah was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, standing out as a sharp, quick point guard who ran the offense with precision. She consistently found the right passing windows to feed her post players, showing excellent timing and feel for the game. Her ball-handling was smooth and under control, allowing her to navigate traffic and break down defenders. Mo'Riyah also scored efficiently around the basket, using a mix of crafty finishes to convert in tight spaces. Her ability to balance playmaking and scoring made her a key playmaker throughout the day.     Taylor was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase and made it clear that defenders will be yelling “shooter” every time she touches the ball for years to come. She knocked down multiple threes with a quick, fluid release and showed off an impressive step-back that created space with ease. Her shooting mechanics are clean and consistent, making her a constant threat from deep. On the defensive end, Taylor stayed active in the passing lanes, coming up with several steals, and consistently pushed the pace by making smart, timely passes ahead in transition. Her combination of shot-making and awareness made her one of the most impactful players on the floor.     Madison was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, commanding attention with her quickness and control at the point guard spot. She handled the ball effortlessly, using her shiftiness to break down defenders and create opportunities. Madison consistently made smart decisions, showing a high basketball IQ and great feel for the game. She attacked the paint with purpose and speed, finishing confidently at the rim through traffic. Her combination of skill, pace, and poise made her a standout floor general throughout the day.     Zhoie was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, impressing with her composure and control at the point guard position. She played with a smooth pace, handling the ball confidently and keeping defenders off balance. Zhoie consistently drew multiple defenders off the dribble, showing excellent court vision as she set up open teammates for quality looks. When she chose to attack, she got to the rim with ease and finished with great body control in traffic. Her ability to create, distribute, and score made her a standout floor leader on the day.     Delaney was a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, bringing the kind of energy and effort every coach looks for. The lefty guard played with grit and determination, doing all the little things that impact the game—diving for loose balls, battling on defense, and staying active on every possession. She handled the ball well under pressure and stretched the floor by knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc. Her scrappy defensive presence and all-around hustle made her a key contributor throughout the day.     Jenna stood out as a top performer at the PGH Freshman Showcase, using her quickness to ignite fast breaks and keep the tempo high. As a skilled ball handler, she controlled the game well and confidently drained multiple shots from deep. Her defensive intensity and ability to stay in front of opponents added value on both ends of the floor, making her a vital asset for her team.
