Getting to the free throw line can make or break a player's overall game-style. If you can't make free throws, you can't be left in games as it dwindles down or else the opposing team will foul you and send you to the line to miss some free throws in crucial moments.

In this article we highlight five players that shot the ball REALLY well from the line last season, while attempting at least 50 shots, and they are looking to do the same over the next six-eight months for this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='582811' first='Ava' last='Fischer'] only got to the line for 51 attempts last Winter but she made 47 of those. This season I'm sure the Humboldt staff is looking to get Fischer a little more aggressive while attacking the hoop. She is such an accurate shooter that she needs to take that advantage as much as she can when those opportunities present themselves. If recent history is any indication, Humboldt will bring some skill to the high school floor this Winter. Players like Fischer will play their role, keep things simple, and that will help them succeed in the long run.

Every time we talk about [player_tooltip player_id='509225' first='Averie' last='Lower'] we speak on her ability to shoot the basketball so it's only right that she is also a very good free throw shooter whenever she gets to the charity stripe. Lower has an effortlessly stroke, picture perfect form, and a quick but accurate trigger when letting go of the rock. That goes for from anywhere on the floor, especially from the line. As a Junior Lower went 56-66, making 84.8% of her attempts. This is one of the better numbers for a prospect with over 65 attempts on the season as a whole. Hopefully this Winter she can stay aggressive and put together another memorable campaign. If she stays hungry at getting to her spots at the rim, she should post even better numbers for her last season on the high school hardwood.

Waterloo West is going to look towards their main producer on both sides of the floor in PG - Nakia Ollivierre this Winter as they get into their season. There is no doubt that Ollivierre is going to look to score most of this teams buckets this Winter just like years past. She has always been a big time producer on that side of the ball so I expect nothing less for her Senior season. As a Junior, Ollivierre went to the free throw line for 176 attempts. She finished off making 151 of those, giving her a noteworthy percentage at 85.9%. That number is impressive considering how many free throws she shot in general but she should be around the same number over the next six months as well. She just needs to stay hungry and that should be simple.

[player_tooltip player_id='502240' first='Samantha' last='Becker'] is going to need to put together another big Winter ahead at CR - Washington High School. Becker, a 5'9 PG, recently committed to compete at D2 - Drury to follow this season but prior to that she is going to be looked upon to make some magic each evening with her high school squad. Last Winter she was consistently getting to line each contest. She finished off the year 87-106, averaging about five trips to the line every time she laced up her kicks. All in all, Becker is a pass-first PG that understands how to get her teammates open at an impressive rate. These attempts just show that once she starts assisting those others around her, defenses start to tighten up and they let her get all the way to the bucket for some type of attempt with contact. This Winter should be a good one for this group. If they play their game, they should win a few more games than last season.

[player_tooltip player_id='832197' first='Addy' last='Wolfswinkel'] will be an asset at the college level some day. Wolfswinkel has a fairly completely game as a guard. She understands what she can do, she understands what the others around her can do, she can play as your 1 or 2 - depending on the situation, or she can become a slasher and work off of the ball. Wolfswinkel put up some numbers in general a year ago and she is back for more. She finished off her Junior season going 105-129. Another impressive number from a hooper with promise looking towards the future over the next two years.
