In Minnesota the current crop of Class 2A talent is the gift that keeps on giving. It's hard to imagine a more talented group competing in small school basketball than what we have right now. I mean, Kentucky commit [player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'] of Providence Academy, Minnesota signee [player_tooltip player_id='205310' first='Tori' last='Oehrlein'] of Crosby-Ironton and top national prospect [player_tooltip player_id='433933' first='Chloe' last='Johnson'] of Duluth Marshall are some of the most accomplished players to ever emerge in the state. Yes, Addi Mack has now graduated from Minnehaha Academy – she put up 23 points off the bench to spark Maryland to a comeback win over Georgetown earlier in the week – but there's still plenty left behind.

Other Division 1 commits in Class 2A include seniors [player_tooltip player_id='502561' first='Marta' last='Forsline'] of Mesabi East (UC-Davis), [player_tooltip player_id='478390' first='Sinae' last='Hill'] of Minnehaha Academy (Tennessee-Chatanooga) and Frazee guard Jadyn Sonnenberg (North Dakota). Junior [player_tooltip player_id='529357' first='Emma' last='Millerbernd'] and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='872714' first='Beckett' last='Greenway'] of Providence will both go D1 eventually along with sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='914941' first='Briana' last='Foster'] of Minnehaha Academy. Others on the rise include [player_tooltip player_id='734360' first='Gigi' last='Coleman'] of Minnehaha, [player_tooltip player_id='1233136' first='Korbin' last='Tanner'] of New London-Spicer, [player_tooltip player_id='897050' first='Annabelle' last='Gothmann'] of Milaca and [player_tooltip player_id='1002988' first='Chloe' last='Reedy'] of Royalton

The question we're addressing today is, ‘Who's got next?' Who are some fresh faces you'll want to watch in Class 2A this winter? Here are a handful we think will emerge in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='764208' first='Kjersten' last='Hoehne'] – 2027 forward, Southwest Christian

Hoehne's growth over the past year has been notable. The 6'1 forward showed major strides in confidence and versatility at the Prep Girls Hoops Expo in September. A natural rim protector, she uses her length to alter shots and rebound instinctively. Offensively, she's developed range and fluidity, moving comfortably between the post and perimeter. Her timing, mobility, and emerging skill set give Kjersten clear upside. With her improving strength and expanding confidence, Hoehne looks ready to step up at Southwest Christian. .

[player_tooltip player_id='992389' first='Bria' last='Williamson'] – 2028 forward, Fairmont

Williamson impressed at the PGH Sophomore ID Camp with her energy, toughness, and nonstop motor. The 5'10 Fairmont forward brings relentless effort and physicality to every game. She rebounds with passion, defends multiple positions, and makes smart, efficient plays on offense. Her length and wiry frame allow her to finish through contact and battle inside, while her upbeat, team-first attitude makes her a coach's favorite. Still developing her skill set, Williamson's motor, competitiveness, and willingness to do the dirty work are certain to propel her into the spotlight this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1246851' first='Aza' last='Baartman'] – 2029 guard, Goodhue

Goodhue always seems to straddle the enrollment line that determines whether the Wildcats will play in Class A or AA. This year it's AA and a slate of solid opponents are about to discover why we think Baartman is going to be the next big thing in the Wildcats' lineup.. The 5'11 forward plays with strength, energy, and a fundamentally sound approach. She rebounds hard, defends with intensity, and can step out to hit perimeter shots. After a breakout AAU season, Baartman can be relied up to do all the little things. With a combination of size, motor, and basketball IQ, Aza is a prospect on the rise.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256822' first='Azalea' last='Tesch'] – 2029 forward, Milaca

The 6'0 Milaca forward is a strong, physical athlete with a defensive mindset and great versatility. A multi-sport standout, Tesch plays with energy and edge, embracing contact and controlling the paint. She's an intimidating presence down low yet mobile enough to guard the perimeter effectively. Offensively, she finishes well through traffic and is learning to extend her range. Her performance in AAU turned a lot of heads this summer and her work ethic continues to drive improvement. With Azalea's strength, quickness, and effort, she looks like a future collegian on an upward trajectory.

[player_tooltip player_id='1090086' first='Shea' last='Watkins'] & [player_tooltip player_id='1090085' first='Georgia' last='Watkins'] – 2030 forwards, Minnehaha Academy

Pictured above, the Watkins twins from Minnehaha Academy are two of the most exciting young prospects in Minnesota. The are long, athletic, and skilled beyond their years. Both move fluidly, defend well, and play with composure. Shea attacks downhill and finishes with body control, while Georgia combines quickness with a smooth pull-up jumper and defensive instincts that create steals. Each plays with confidence and maturity, showing definite Division I potential. Polished, coachable, and team-oriented, the duo's combination of length, skill, and athleticism gives Minnehaha a dynamic foundation for the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1353703' first='Kendall' last='Malmgren'] – 2030 forward, St. James

The next in a talented basketball family, the 8th grader is already making her mark. At 5'11, she's long, active, and relentless – dominating inside with soft touch and strong footwork. Malmgren plays with energy on both ends, finishing through contact and battling for every rebound. Her length and coordination stand out for her age, and her high motor makes her a constant force. With continued development, she has the potential to follow in her sister Madelyn's footsteps as a productive, physical post. The foundation is clearly there for a successful career.
