Lincoln North Star High School

The favorite for the Class A State Title to start the season will be the Lincoln North Star Navigators. They return everyone from a year ago except one of their starters but they bring in a transfer in the Top of her 2026 Class in [player_tooltip player_id='544023' first='Kierrah' last='Pinchon'] from the state of Kansas. Pinchon is a dominating force down-low with athletic ability and the skill level to stretch the floor as a CG. She is coming off of a successful high school Volleyball campaign with her Gators team and she is ready to make her mark on the hardwood in the same fashion. They will also returning D1 commit - [player_tooltip player_id='756006' first='Ani' last='Leu'] (14 PPG, 7 RPG, 3 APG, 3 SPG), [player_tooltip player_id='757578' first='Kendall' last='Anderson'] (8 PPG, 3 RPG, 2 APG, 3 SPG), & [player_tooltip player_id='777563' first='Joyce' last='Johnson'] (7 PPG, 2 RPG, 2 APG , 2 SPG) so as long as they take care of business each game and go 1-0, they should be looking good moving into the Post season with a ton of momentum as they eye a Class A State Title.

Omaha North High School

Omaha North High School, also known as Transfer U this season in Girls High School Basketball is going to be a very fun team to watch over the next six months. The Vikings will return their main core from last year where they went 10-14 but the interesting part is that they will bring in 3-4 transfers, that should have the chance ti play right away. The two most recognizable names being Tink Wilson from Bellevue East High School & [player_tooltip player_id='882865' first='Jo' last='Metoyer'] from Westview High School. Both of these ballers lead their respective Varsity team's to the Class A State Tournament last Winter so their expectation are much higher now that they have partners up at Omaha North. If the coaching staff put together a proper lineup with meaningful and smart substations, this group will have all the talent in the world to make some magic over the next few months. There is no doubt about that.

Millard West High School

Millard West High School will take a step back this Winter with the Gessert sisters now competing at Creighton with the Bluejays but that doesn't mean they are going to be bad in any terms of the phrase. This program will return the best overall 2026 throughout the state in [player_tooltip player_id='747368' first='Kylee' last='Paben'] (13 PPG, 6 RPG), along with a few other younger players that will finally get their chance to see some more quality minutes. Some of those individuals being Megan Kelley (5 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 APG), [player_tooltip player_id='885240' first='Ally' last='Wilber'] (4 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 APG, 3 SPG), [player_tooltip player_id='882860' first='Londyn' last='Whitney'] (3 PPG, 3 RPG), & [player_tooltip player_id='884639' first='Makenna' last='Rooney'] (2 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 APG, 1 SPG). If these hoopers can make the most of their time off the floor, they should see positive results and set themselves up for the future. I think it's going to be hard for anyone to beat Lincoln North Star when it boils down to it but Millard West should be in the conversation moving forward to years to come once they put it all together.

Millard South High School

Millard South High School put together a 16-10 overall record last Winter when they made the Class A State Tournament as the 8th seed. If they want to put together another rememberable season moving forward they will need to ride their returning producers from a year ago. Prospects like Abbi Durow (15 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 2 APG, 2 SPG), [player_tooltip player_id='758889' first='Macey' last='Kuchta'] (6 PPG, 3 RPG, 2 APG, 1 SPG), [player_tooltip player_id='985176' first='Olivia' last='Woockman'] (3 PPG, 1 RPG, 3 APG, 2 SPG), [player_tooltip player_id='884641' first='Ella' last='Mungin'] (4 PPG, 4 RPG, 1 APG), & Bella Lucero-Miner (3 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 SPG). They will also look to bring in [player_tooltip player_id='896148' first='Sophia' last='Varn'] in the middle of the lane. Varn is a C/PF prospect in her Junior season that stands over 6'2 in height so she is definitely going to be a vital piece to their middle defensively. She will take over as her team's BPG leader before you know it and those type of stats are the one's that will directly impact winning. There is a lot of hope for Milard South over the next few months. If they play their pieces correctly, this will be a group that we talk about throughout the rest of the Winter.

Lincoln Southwest High School

If you are looking for a sleeper team or someone that might come out of nowhere from this Class in a sense, look no further than Lincoln Southwest High School. Lincoln SW is going to be able to Will themselves to victory this season with scrappy but calculated play on both ends. They will return their main producer at the PG spot in Kaytee Irons (14 PPG, 5 RPG, 2 APG, 3 SPG, their starting SG in [player_tooltip player_id='820519' first='Eleanor' last='Griffin'] (10.6 PPG, 5 RPG, 2 APG), & other starting guard - [player_tooltip player_id='1226039' first='Alexis' last='Gutknecht'] (5.6 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 APG). These three were some of the highest producers as a whole last Winter for this group and they will be looked upon once again to do the same type of thing this Winter. They will look to play fast but in-control, causing havoc whenever plausible. They will look to pressure in meaningful moments and hopefully that will lead them to some impressive victories as this season continues on.
