Friday Night Lights - Who To Watch In Your Spare Time

Tonight is one of the biggest nights of the year with games being played from the Quad Cities all the way to Council Bluffs. We are looking for a big game out of [player_tooltip player_id='502240' first='Samantha' last='Becker'] and her CR - Washington team tonight when they face cross town-rival, CR Jefferson. Becker has put together a few impressive outings this Winter so far after returning from injury last season but the best is still yet to come. Offensively, she is lining up her teammates in successful positions, giving them easy opportunities off her assists. She is playing within her own ability, never trying to do too much and she is playing pretty solid defense on that side of things with her active hand-eye coordination. It's going to be fun to see Becker compete at the next level following this Winter campaign but I'm sure that she is completely locked in on the hear-and-now moving into their contest tonight.     Nodaway Valley will compete in a big game tonight when they take on <a href="https://www.gobound.com/direct/teams/h20222161818219f8de93a65404fadb6/show">Martensdale-St Marys</a> in a tough road environment. The Wolverines have a target on their back while they sit at 16-1 so far this season. One of the major reasons for their continued success is the play from their Forward - [player_tooltip player_id='582809' first='Emma' last='Boswell']. Boswell transferred in this Winter for her Senior season after her previous school got shut down and I'm sure the Wolverines are happy about that. Boswell has been a staple within the middle for this group throughout their first 17 contests, averaging a double-double in points-rebounds and frankly, she has been unstoppable inbetween-the-blocks overall. No one can handle her mixture of size and physicality, leading to a lot of production. If you want to see a highly anticipated matchup this evening, look at this game between these two programs. No matter the records, these two always seem to battle it out with a barn burner of a game so I wouldn't be shocked if that were the case yet again this evening.     When you hear about CR - Kennedy, you hear about some of their big name prospects but someone who does some great things for team is [player_tooltip player_id='896430' first='Alaina' last='Canney']. Canney is one of the taller players that the state has to offer out of the 2026 Class. She has always been very good with her back to the basket, as she can just simply move her weaker defender with her strength or she can score over the top while going through contact. CR - Kennedy will be tasked with slowing down another program from the same town in Xavier High School in just a few hours. If Canney can be her dominant self and the rest of their producers can make things happen when the clock is running down, this should shape out to be a narrow matchup with a lot of potential between both programs.     [player_tooltip player_id='923916' first='Lizzie' last='Beam'] is a really talented player. She is aa SG with better than average size at 5'10, she has a great feel for the game, she converts on offense as a high rate from all offensive levels, she is willing to crash the boards hard on every possession, and she is willing to give up the ball to an open teammate when it matters the most because all she cares about is her team's success. When you put that all together, you get someone who thrives under pressure and you get someone who shows out whenever they compete. Ankeny Centennial will face off against a very talented Valley program this evening. This game won't be for the faint of heart. Valley has put together a respectable season and they aren't done yet so we will need to see how the Jaguars combat that intensity. This would be another great contest to catch if you are in the DSM area with some free time over these next few hours.     An underrated player in her one right is [player_tooltip player_id='1201885' first='Ava' last='Casey'] of IC - Liberty High School. Casey first really came onto the scene last Winter when she saw a lot of time as one of her team's main PG's but this Winter she has proven that she is their PG #1. She has been someone that has done a great job of controlling the pace of play, she is creating opportunities for others off the dribble. she is scoring at a steady pace when she see's an opening, and she limiting her turnovers each game. Liberty see's a lot of success with their ball movement and 1v1 play within the half court. To set up these types of situations, you need a decent PG and Casey has proven that she can handle that role this season. Tonight is an impactful one for this program. They take on IC - West in an electric matchup. Whoever executes better down the stretch should win but we will just have to wait and see.
