Each year when the high school season rolls around, we begin the search for young players who are playing a major role for their respective teams. Whether they have transferred to a new program, are getting consistent minutes for the first time, or have been leading their team for a number of years, it takes a high degree of maturity, mental toughness, and preparation to weather the storms of the season and impact the game as a freshman. Even more so in a 3A or 4A program. The players selected for this year's All-Freshman Teams have done exactly that.

Among the twenty players selected across the First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mentions, six are from 4A programs, eight from 3A, four from 2A, and two attend 1A schools. Seven of the selections made it to the High School State Tournament earlier this month, with just two players winning a State Championship. Seven of our selections led their teams in scoring this season, while thirteen are ranked in the top 20 prospects of the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2029. Here is a look at the All-Freshman Team selections:

FIRST TEAM

[player_tooltip player_id='897060' first='Madeleine' last='Hamiel'] – 2029 Guard, Cretin-Derham Hall

The two-way dynamo from Cretin-Derham Hall made a tremendous impact this season, leading the team to the Class 3A State Tournament semifinal for the second year in a row. Hamiel's natural athleticism, ability to score at all three levels, high basketball IQ, and endless work ethic showed all winter, but were particularly noticeable at Williams Arena. So much so, that the 5'10 guard picked up an offer from the Gophers just last week. Madeleine, who is the #3 ranked prospect in the freshman class, led the Raiders in scoring this year, averaging just over 15 points per game. We'll be seeing Hamiel plenty on the AAU circuit this spring, playing for [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] EYBL.

[player_tooltip player_id='872714' first='Beckett' last='Greenway'] – 2029 Guard, Providence Academy

Following the graduations of Lipscomb freshman Hope Counts, Greenway seamlessly stepped into a much larger role for Providence Academy in her third varsity season. The 5'8 point guard was a core part of the Lions offense, averaging just over 18 points and 5 assists per game. On the other end of the floor, Beckett shined as a perimeter defender. With incredibly light feet and some of the quickest hands in the state, the Lions freshman picked up an average of 3.2 steals per contest, driving their signature fast paced, transition scoring. As the top ranked prospect in the class, Greenway picked up multiple high major offers over the winter; including Creighton and Iowa State.

[player_tooltip player_id='994855' first='Izze' last='Austin'] – 2029 Guard, Minnetonka

After transferring from Edina, Austin became an integral part of the Skippers rotation almost immediately. With stellar court vision, a high basketball IQ, and natural playmaking abilities, the 5'8 guard quickly became a strong compliment to senior point guard, [player_tooltip player_id='252383' first='Lanelle' last='Wright']. Izze was one of four players to average in double figures this season, contributing just under 13 points a night. With Wright heading off to play for Grand Canyon University in the fall, there's no doubt that Austin will take up an even larger role next season. As the AAU season gears up, the polished, hard working point guard will suit up for the [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] for the 5th year in a row.

[player_tooltip player_id='884449' first='Andie' last='Changamire'] – 2029 Guard, Becker

The younger Changamire sister put up big numbers all season long, leading the Bulldogs in multiple statistical categories. In her third varsity season, the Becker freshman put up an average of 18.2 points, 7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.3 steals a night, earning her 1000th career point last month. Also a standout on the track and soccer field, speed is a core component of Andie's game. As one of the fastest end-to-end players in the class, Changamire's quickness and athleticism allow her to sneak in the paint for boards, blow by defenders on her way to the rim, and pick off passes on the perimeter, turning defense into transition buckets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1095939' first='Raegan' last='Kelm'] – 2029 Guard, Byron

Kelm stepped up in a big way for Byron this season, making key contributions on both ends of the floor. The 5'9 guard is a tireless defender who uses her speed and tenacity to create headaches for her opponents. On the other end of the floor, Raegan was second in scoring for the Bears this season, averaging 12.3 points to go along with [player_tooltip player_id='498663' first='Madison' last='Ohm']'s 21.7 per game. Whether looking to score in the half court or in transition, Kelm excels at blowing by her defender and finishing at the rim. The 10th ranked 2029 prospect will suit up for [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] 15U EYBL in the fast approaching AAU season.

SECOND TEAM

[player_tooltip player_id='1057125' first='Macie' last='Henrikson'] – 2029 Guard, Lakeville South

Despite missing the first handful of games of the season due to a broken wrist, Henrikson was quick to become an impact player for Lakeville South. The Farmington transfer added a tremendous amount of strength, physicality, and playmaking ability, as well as a polished set of skills to the Cougars lineup. Macie was one of four players to average in double figures for Lakeville South this season, contributing just shy of 13 points per game. With seniors [player_tooltip player_id='927228' first='Amaya' last='Pahl'], and [player_tooltip player_id='478365' first='Audrey' last='Schmidtke'] moving on to the collegiate level, the 5'10 guard is sure to have an even bigger role next season. But first, Henrikson will join the [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] 2029 UAA squad for the AAU season.

[player_tooltip player_id='939000' first='Kiera' last='Willis'] – 2029 Guard, Benilde-St. Margaret's

We recently highlighted the Benilde-St. Margaret's freshman in our coverage of the State Tournament for her x-factor performance in the team's championship run. Willis' impact goes far beyond the playoffs, though. The 5'8 guard provided reliable and consistent minutes off the bench all season long, finding numerous ways to leave her fingerprints on the game. That is no easy feat, considering how much talent is on the Red Knights roster. Kiera averaged 8.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in her freshman campaign. After having a breakout summer on the [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] 2028 S40 team last year, Willis will move to the 2029 UAA squad this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1233136' first='Korbin' last='Tanner'] – 2029 Forward, New London-Spicer

The 6'2 forward from New London-Spicer was a standout performer all season, leading the Wildcats in yet another deep playoff run. With tremendous size in the post, Tanner dominated the paint this winter, using skilled footwork and a soft touch at the rim to contribute a team-high 15.7 points per game. On the other end of the floor, Korbin used her lengthy frame to alter opponents shots and to lock down the boards. The Wildcats freshman routinely finished games with double-digit rebounds and multiple blocked shots. After earning an All-Tournament Team nod at State Korbin will play for the [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'] 2029 squad this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1244229' first='Lucy' last='Hilgert'] – 2029 Guard/Wing, Chanhassen

Hilgert was an integral piece of Chanhassen's historic season, making their first trip to the State Tournament in program history. The scrappy 5'9 guard was one of three Storm players to average in double figures, at just over 15 points per game. With keen court vision and playmaking ability, she also notched 2 assists per contest in her freshman campaign. On the other end of the floor, Lucy's tenacity and consistent willingness to make hustle plays allowed her to pick up roughly 5 boards and 2 steals a night. A top 25 ranked prospect in the class, Hilgert will join [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury']'s 2029 UAA squad on the AAU circuit this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1002988' first='Chloe' last='Reedy'] – 2029 Guard, Royalton

The scoring specialist from Royalton had another outstanding season, leading the team with nearly 23 points a night. Reedy, a 5'7 point guard, can score the ball at any level, but was particularly effective from long range this season, shooting 41.5% from the three-point line. With a tight handle and the ability to make passes on a dime, the Royals freshman got the rest of the team involved in the offense, averaging 3.5 steals per contest. On the other end of the floor, Chloe's lightning quickness allowed her to consistently turn defense into offense all season long. She will play AAU for [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] 2029 S40 this summer.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

[player_tooltip player_id='939003' first='Isabella' last='Deleeuw'] – 2029 Guard, Cretin-Derham Hall

[player_tooltip player_id='925046' first='Jordan' last='Staloch'] – 2029 Guard, Jordan

[player_tooltip player_id='1246846' first='Nivaya' last='Koles'] – 2029 Guard, Lakeville North

[player_tooltip player_id='941745' first='Nevaeh' last='Grosse'] – 2029 Guard, Eastview

[player_tooltip player_id='1265103' first='Farrah' last='Thomas'] – 2029 Guard/Wing, Mountain Iron-Buhl

[player_tooltip player_id='1246847' first='Greta' last='Layton'] – 2029 Guard, Big Lake

[player_tooltip player_id='1264768' first='Zuri' last='Hayes'] – 2029 Guard/Wing, Richfield

[player_tooltip player_id='994012' first='Taylor' last='Nesvig'] – 2029 Guard, Hancock

[player_tooltip player_id='1317635' first='Lyla' last='Behnke'] – 2029 Forward, Spring Lake Park

[player_tooltip player_id='1106575' first='Zadi' last='Farmer'] – 2029 Guard, Jackson County Central
