In a very competitive game, against a very good team, going against another very talented guard with multiple college offers, Wallace was excellent again for WV Thunder Perry. She looks and plays like running the show was what she was born to do. Maddy finished the game with 15 points (three 3PM), nearly 10 assists, and handful of rebounds but it was her leadership that impressed me more than anything. Her communication back and forth with her Coach Perry about what play to run and then communication to her teammates relaying that information was excellent. Her passing ability was ultra-impressive again and decision making was excellent on the break were she distributed the ball to her teammates in positions to score. She was efficient scoring the ball herself, shooting the ball very well from behind the three point line in both games I saw at Lakepoint. Wallace does a great job turning defense into offense very quickly when she secures the rebound or outlet pass wasting no time pushing the ball out in transition resulting in quick and easy points for her team. Very high basketball IQ to go along with all of her skill.

I was able to see Maddy on three occasions last weekend, and she did what she always does…she played with great energy, physicality at the point guard position, and a toughness. She is strong at her size, and she uses it well to absorb contact but also dish out contact. She has a good handle, she can get downhill North/South, and she’s a capable perimeter shooter if she can get any space and rhythm. I really like her energy, her vocalness, and her understanding of the game. She competes each possession and rebounds her position very well.

I kind of got the idea after watching this team play twice that Wallace is the spark plug and leader of the group. She is very vocal on the court and it feels like you are watching a coach on the floor. Her game is loud and so is she shouting out instructions and celebrating her teammates making big plays. Maddy has elite ball handling and flashed smooth combinations with crossovers and dribbling the ball behind her back and between her legs. She threw bullet after bullet to wide open teammates from as far as 3/4 quarter court length on the money, on time and in stride, setting them up to score with ease. She, herself, is a capable scorer finishing through contact in a tight window while sprinting on the break as well as pushing the ball coast to coast before pulling up for an 8-10 foot jumper in the paint. Wallace holds multiple offers and with continued, consistently good play that list will grow.

Maddy Wallace Maddy Wallace 5'6" | PG Carmel | 2028 State IN continues to impress me with her relentless competitiveness and her desire to win every game. What truly separates her from other guards I’ve seen is her ability to impact the game beyond just scoring. She contributes in ways that don’t always show up on the stat sheet, whether it’s making the right defensive rotations, setting up teammates, or controlling the pace of the game.
Throughout each game, Maddy demonstrates a natural ability to lead—both through vocal communication with her teammates and by leading through her actions on the court. She sets the tone with her effort, intensity, and decision-making, making those around her better. Offensively, she does a great job scoring in transition, whether attacking the rim with confidence or knocking down shots from the perimeter. Her combination of leadership, versatility, and competitive drive makes her a standout guard and a true floor general.

Maddy showed strong development as a freshman last season at Carmel and continues to make strides in her game. Whether playing with her West Virginia Thunder squad or at Carmel High School, she displays natural leadership through her communication and the energy she brings to the floor. Wallace’s ability to space the floor and knock down shots from the perimeter makes her a valuable offensive threat, and she is poised to emerge as one of Carmel’s top players this upcoming season.

To me at least, Maddy has sort of an “old school” PG game. She uses her strong frame and length to give her advantages. She plays with patience and purpose, dissects the defense, and she has very good vision and the ability to find teammates through small windows. She has really nice touch outside if people play off of her, and she is willing to be physical at either end of the floor. She is highly skilled, so being able to defend water-bug PGs will be key for her.
