Expert Analysis

You see Amirah’s name and think “who”? But everyone knows her as “Tootie”. She is incredibly quick/fast, so much so that she makes other athletic players look stationary at times. She can get in and out of gaps quickly, put a ton of pressure on the defense, but it also helps that she has a tight handle and can change directions in an instant using a variety of dribble-moves. She can score the ball from all three levels as well, and she is an aggressive defender with quick hands. She has played against older opponents for so long, that now against her peers she stands out in a big way.

Amirah is a tough, shifty point guard who consistently kept pressure on the opposing team. She can knock down the outside shot, does a good job pushing the pace, and makes smart decisions as a passer. Her motor stands out, and she showed craft in the lane with a nice floater. One of her best sequences came in transition where she got to two feet, used a shot fake to send two defenders flying, and finished for an easy bucket.

Tootie was excellent on the defensive end and made life miserable for opposing guards with her ball pressure. The definition of a “Lockdown Defender”. She has elite quickness and speed that she used to penetrate the defense with ease and kick it out to open shooters on the perimeter. She also pushed the pace and displayed incredible court-vision in transition.

“Tootie” had a good freshman season as an ancillary piece for a loaded Sacred Heart roster. Looking ahead, Jordan should have a much bigger role for the Valkyries next season. Increased opportunity should lead to more impressive stats as Amirah and SHA both push for another state title.

“Tootie” is one of the best young guards in Kentucky and will need to continue playing at a high level in order for SHA to continue their streak of state championships. Jordan is the table setter for the Valkyrie offense and is a high level on ball defender as well.
