In the top 10 there are multiple players that would have been number one in any other class and there are a lot of division one and power 5 level players in the top 50. As we dive into the class here are some of the most intriguing players in the top 50.
Lyla stands around 6’2″ and would typically be in the post especially for a freshman. For the Cadets she has a little do everything happening in her game as she is as confident and accurate from the three as any player we’ve seen in a while. She moves well without the ball and can put it on the floor to attack. She also does well with her back to the basket. She dropped in as the seventh ranked player in the class on one of the nations top teams.
Autumn runs the point like an upperclassmen starting as the leader on a nationally ranked team. She has a fearless demeaner and will attack the basket against anyone. She plays alongside multiple division one talented upperclassmen but is not hesitant to take charge on the floor. Defenders need to caution her crossover as she can drop you in route to dropping her pull-up jumper.
Cai is as athletic as you can get and moves fluidly through traffic. Choosing Georgetown Prep to lace her shoes up may be a perfect fit as she will be able to develop on the floor without the pressure of trying to do everything possible to maintain team rankings. Her offseason approach to the game has been impressive as I seldomly see her and her sister getting extra strength and conditioning work in off the clock.
Samantha may be the surprise of the class at the end of the day. She is one of the best shooters in the class, she has a good feel for the game and she plays with a very high IQ. I could see her excelling at any of the perimeter positions and emerging in year two or three after the graduation of the All-Americans on her team. She is getting valuable minutes now but when the major minutes come she may be the one every coach is eyeing.
LaBrea has a college frame and a really good skillset. The transfer in preseason was a little odd but may workout for her as far as her development goes. She does a lot of things really well but I can’t see what her “thing” is yet. Her versatility makes her valuable as she can play pretty much any position. I can see her fitting in at the wing at the division one level right now it seems as if she’s liking the shooting guard role with the Crusaders.
