The 2026 guard has added a mid-range game in the off season to combat when ran off the 3-point line. Impressive this summer has been her downhill game getting to the rim. Ava has a smart IQ at the point guard position and it shows as she is the leader on the floor. Does a great job in getting everything set and then moving without the ball finding opens spots where she can become a shooter. If you are looking for a floor leader that can play ball Kelby is that player. I have witness games first hand where she can beat you with the 3 pointer or carve you up with drives and pullup jumpers. Best thing about this young lady is she gets everyone involved and her teammates trust her. A proven winner on the floor the past 3 school seasons. Do not let that statement confuse you this guard can stroke the 3 pointers as well. Good enough shooter that makes it hard to choose which way you are going to close out on her. Not close enough she knocks down the 3. Give her a bad closeout and she will blow by you for a layup. Strong drive pull ups that has good lift and quick release keeps the on-ball defender guessing if its a pull up or attack the rim. Moves good off the ball getting hands and feet ready for the kickout. She has had success at big school and small school levels in Oklahoma. High level scorer that can average around that 20 plus range. The third leading scorer the team last season that is not bad considering the only two players in front of you are Power 5 signees. Watching Maddy this summer she will be counted on not only as a scorer but as the leader of a young team due to her valuable experience this past season. Impressive is the downhill drives decision making she has showed this summer. Great reads of the defense that limited the unforced turnovers. When you watch this young lady play there is no question that you are getting 100% between the lines. She does a excellent job at finding the gaps of the defense and attacking it with a quick burst getting to the rim. In transition she pushes the tempo forcing the tempo looking to score high percentage opportunities. Tough defender on defense that creates points off turnovers. I know she listed among the top small forwards but Dasia will play the 2-3 spots at the next level. Myself having to defend her was concern with the outside shooting she has and the ability to get to the rim on poor closeouts. Aggressive guard on offense that can go coast to coast take on the contact for the old fashion 3-point play. The versatility comes in play when she moves to block on a small guard. As you watch her play you just the feeling that she has a great understanding of the game. A tireless worker on offense having to open most of the time with a no catch defense mindset. As mentioned, an excellent shooter on the catch or off the bounce. A player that you must defend over the top on all ball screens as she can shoot on top of the screen. Even then sometimes not enough as she has a smooth step back shot off the dribble creating the space needed to shoot. . She just plays the game as I call it. Does whatever is needed for her team to succeed. Just put her anywhere on the floor and she will score, rebound and play defense. The versatility she brings allows her to play on the outside as a driving scoring guard with a nice mid-range pull up. Then against a zone she flashes in at the high post and becomes the facilitator picking apart the zone defense. High level scorer that has recorded double doubles and over 30 points in one game I know of.
