The Defending Champs: Oklahoma Bible Academy -

It was OBA's first year in Class 2A. They nearly went undefeated, with only an one point upset loss to Hooker in Regionals. They responded by wining six straight, including avenging that loss. The run to end the year helped them finish the year at 33-1 and as State Champions. They were anchored by a stellar duo of Lilyan Walden and Conley Cayot. While it will be difficult to replace their production, seniors [player_tooltip player_id='896692' first='Kami' last='Jenkins'], Zofia Konczalska and Ashlyn Young are among the returnees. They'll start their title defense on Friday with a match up against Vici.

The Lady Pirates are Class 2A royalty with an impressive trophy case, last winning it all in 2023. With a title game and semifinal loss the last two years respectively, the motivation to finish strong has to be high for a talented roster. Senior duo of [player_tooltip player_id='572456' first='Skylar' last='Anderson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='897488' first='Danika' last='Pendley'] will lead the way. Pendley is a tough and strong scorer around the rim. [player_tooltip player_id='1116945' first='Kynlee' last='Bullard'] is a Swiss army knife junior who has a big role to play. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1097683' first='Peyton' last='Bays'] put up big scoring numbers last year at Tecumseh and now will provide additional scoring punch for the Lady Pirates. They're already 1-0 with a blowout victory against Preston and host nearby Byng tonight.

Riverside Indian School

Narrowly missed State last season after back to back semifinals appearances in 2023 and 2024. They return a lot of production and the ability to fill it up from deep. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='574256' first='Tyuana' last='Haumpy'] brings an exciting mix of playmaking and scoring. While [player_tooltip player_id='1320355' first='Holli' last='Jo Harvey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1320861' first='Bobbiey' last='Parker'] are weapons from beyond the arc. Junior transfer wing [player_tooltip player_id='1054460' first='Taejah' last='Hightower'] could be the key to putting the, over the top in the fierce battle for the 2A crown.

Latta

Went 25-5 last year, with only a single point loss to OBA in the 2A semifinals. Only graduated two seniors off last year's squad. With all the returning production, they are already off to a 2-0 start. They're anchored by one of the best backcourt duos in 2A, junior [player_tooltip player_id='876710' first='Jayse' last='Smith'] and senior [player_tooltip player_id='1234993' first='Kelby' last='Parnacher']. In the season opening win over Tushka, Smith connected on five three pointers for 23 points. She already has college ready range from beyond the arc. Parnacher has been a table setter with games off four and five assists to start the season. An upcoming test against Dale looms on December 2nd.

Cashion

Only a 3 point loss to Pocola in the Area consolation kept them from State Tournament appearance. They return a couple key players in junior [player_tooltip player_id='847002' first='Brooke' last='Shafer'] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1133011' first='Kate' last='Nabavi']. Shafer finished the year strongly and at her height and skillset, could emerge as one of the most dominant post players in the small school ranks. Nabavi shot it well as a freshman, while also competing on the defensive end.

Top Player in the Class

[player_tooltip player_id='727813' first='Brooklyn' last='Miles'], Sophomore Guard, Pawhuska

Last year felt like a feeling out period for Miles at the high school level. Even while getting her feet wet, she still put up video game like numbers. And she's only improved since then, especially as a perimeter shooter. Bucket getting alone would put her in the conversation for best player in Class 2A. But when factoring in her creation ability and defending, it's a no brainer. Has the potential for triple doubles and "5 by 5s" this year.

Preseason All State

[player_tooltip player_id='572456' first='Skylar' last='Anderson'], Senior Guard, Dale - Exciting lead guard, with some of the best handles in the state. Has similarly exciting vision as a passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='443065' first='Ti'heiress' last='Davis'], Senior Guard, Hartshorne - High energy and athletic guard, who leaves it all on the floor everytime she steps on it. Along with her defense, can catch fire from deep. Was a key part of last year's runner up squad and now will be counted upon to keep the Lady Miners in the mix.

Madison Hunnicut, Senior Guard, Rejoice Christian - Tall scoring guard, who also rebounds like a forward. Can stuff the stat sheet with steals as well. Reached Area last year.

[player_tooltip player_id='727813' first='Brooklyn' last='Miles'], Sophomore Guard, Pawhuska - As seen it above, there seemingly isn't anything Miles can't do on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='525642' first='Jaslene' last='Garcia-Howell'], Senior Forward, Pawnee - Super skilled power forward, who is an one woman wrecking crew for Pawnee. Can stretch the defense with her jumper, dominant the glass and do a lot in between.
