St. Frances Academy, last year's IAAM A conference champion, traveled to Rosedale Christian Academy for a pre-season scrimmage that felt like a playoff game. Rosedale was the top ranked team for much of last season, and they have added some nice pieces. St. Frances has added senior [player_tooltip player_id='569091' first='Chloe' last='Mills'] via transfer, and super freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1263650' first='Khloe' last='Ison']. A standing room only crowed packed the cozy Rosedale gym to see these two local powerhouses square off. The Rosedale Panthers came out scorching hot and built a 22-point lead at the half, only to see the St. Frances Panthers rally in the second half. St. Frances score 12 unanswered points to start the second half, before Rosedale regained control of the game. Another late rally by St. Frances came up just short and Rosedale held on for an 85-82 win. Yes, both teams scored in the 80's. I can't remember the last time that happened in this area.

Kiki dropped 38 points in this game and was by far the best player on the court. Her catch and shoot threes were a thing of beauty. Her off-ball movement was elite and any time a defender lost track of her she made them pay. When they defended her closely, she beat them off the dribble or passed the ball and cut to the basket. If they denied her the ball she crashed the boards and scored off put backs. She also defended at a high level in this game and handled some point guard duties when necessary.

Miley was a big presence in this scrimmage. She was a force on the boards on both ends of the court and really helped the offense with her connective passing and ability to make a shot. She really brought a lot of energy to the team. She finished with 8 points.

De'ja was an energizer for her team on both ends of the court. She constantly pushed the ball up the court before St. Frances could set their defense and found her teammates for open looks. She kept pressure on the defense by running on misses and makes. She delivered some great passes and played really good on ball defense.

Kamori had a strong outing in this one. She played physical in the paint and drew fouls throughout the game. She showed off her range with a 3 pointer but did her damage at the foul line. 8 of 11 points were free throws because St. Frances had trouble matching her physicality.

Mone't had a solid performance for the Panthers. She led her team in scoring with 23 points and showed off her three-level scoring ability in the process. She has a strong, college-ready frame and knows how to use it. She competed hard at both ends of the floor and helped her team rally from a big first half deficit to get back in the game.

Khloe was a ball of energy from the opening tip until the final buzzer. This game was not played like a scrimmage and she's the main reason why. Every other player on the floor had to match her energy and intensity. She didn't have an efficient shooting game but she made some plays that showed us why she's one of the top players in the country in her class. She chipped in 17 points in this one.
