<p>Selecting one girl to recognize as Player of the Week was a true challenge, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Several players made a strong case, but one standout became the clear choice for this week's award. Those who had a dominant week worthy of consideration have been included in the article as Honorable Mention. Here are the girls who had an outstanding week two, and it's time to celebrate their accomplishments!</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Danica had a special week that began with 29 points (8/10 FT, 5 3PT), four rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a 54-42 win at Webberville. She became Owosso's all-time boys and girls career scoring leader and set a new single-game scoring record during a 50-42 win vs. Durand. Danica reached 1,089 career points to pass the previous mark set in 1968. She scored 42 points (3 3PT, 12/13 FT), with eight rebounds, four steals, and four assists. Danica finished the week off with a productive 17 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists during a 40-26 win vs. Brandon. Her stellar 88 points, 20 rebounds, 11 assists, and eight steals led the team to a 3-0 record. Danica is Michigan's PGH x Foster Swift Sports Dec. 14th-20th Player of the Week.</p>

<p>Sophie started the week with a strong double-double performance during a 61-5 win at Whittemore-Prescott. She posted 18 points, 15 rebounds, and four steals. Sophie entered the MHSAA record books (single-game blocks) during a triple-double on Friday. She scored 10 points, with 17 rebounds, 15 blocks, five assists, and four steals during the 48-20 win vs. Atlanta. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Emersen was voted B-Dubs/Freep Girls Athlete POTW after a huge first week for Regina. She came out soaring with a stat-stuffing 34 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals against Clarkston Everest in the opener. Emersen followed with 25 points, eight rebounds, six steals, and three assists vs. Ann Arbor Pioneer. Week two was just as impressive for the sophomore. On Monday, Emersen turned in another complete performance with 23 points, seven assists, six steals, and six rebounds during a 67-29 win at Marian. The next day, Emersen produced a quadruple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals during a 78-27 win vs. Cranbrook Kingswood. She ended the week with 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals in a 59-49 win vs. Divine Child on Friday. Regina is 5-0 and has scored at least 56 points in every game.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Myah was at her best as the Lady Beavers rolled past their competition this week. Myah started the week with 27 points (8/12 FG, 8/8 FT), six rebounds, five steals, and four assists during a 72-28 win over Pinconning. Her next game is one she'll never forget. Myah needed 17 points to reach 1,000 for her career, and she put up 37. Myah shot 50% from the floor with four threes, nine assists, five steals, and four assists during Beaverton's 78-48 win at Harrison. The Beavers are 4-0 heading into the new year.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Ashlyn is a prolific scorer, and she made that known during both Milford wins this week. Ashlyn started the week strong with 27 points (3 3PT) in a 43-33 win vs. Fowlerville. She followed with a 30-point (3 3PT) performance in a 44-32 win vs. Lake Fenton. Ashlyn finished the week with 57 points (58% 2PT%, 30% 3PT%, 78.6% FT%), adding seven steals, seven assists, and five rebounds.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Mia played one game this week, and she made it count. Mio picked up a 60-49 victory at Boyne City in a sensational game for McGregor. She turned in a dominant triple-double performance with 44 points, 18 rebounds, 11 blocks, and six assists. Mio is a serious D4 contender, and they've scored at least 60 points in every game this season. The Mighty Bolts are 3-0. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">The Muskegon Lady Reds ended a seven-year losing streak when they defeated Rockford 58-51. Mariah willed her team to victory with a clutch 24-point performance (22 in the 2nd half). She followed with an 18-point performance against Wayne Memorial on Saturday. Mariah is Michigan's top senior guard prospect and a special talent. She's building a legitimate case for Miss Basketball and should be a lock to represent the West side as a finalist.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Kendyl is adding an exclamation point to what has been a phenomenal high school career. In 25.5 minutes per game, Kendyl averaged 23 points, six assists, five rebounds, and 4.3 steals as the Chargers defeated Frankenmuth 69-45, Carman Ainsworth 82-37, and Grand Blanc 78-21. She is a complete point guard with the pedigree to be a Miss Basketball finalist. Powers Catholic is winning by 49.25 points per game, and they're 4-0 to start the year. The Chargers are a legitimate D2 contender.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Groves put a mind-boggling amount of points on the scoreboard this week. Harlem erupted for a career-high 45 points (7 3PT) with eight rebounds, four steals, two assists, and one block during a 103-45 win at Fenton. She followed that up with a double-double in a 92-61 win vs. Fraser. Harlem scored 35 points (3 3PT) with 13 rebounds, seven steals, and one assist. Groves is running teams out of the gym using their fast-paced Grinnell system, and Harlem continues to prove why she's an elite talent.</p>
