Ousley is another player from Florida and Duval Elite whose stock and recruitment has skyrocketed over the last few months earning offers from Florida Atlantic, St. Johns, Seton, Hal, UAB, and Mississippi State with her stellar play. The word shifty gets used a lot when describing certain players, but I’m not sure anyone else deserves to have their picture next to it in the dictionary more than Ty. Ousley moves with fluidity and quickness while having the basketball on a string as she dribbled past, through, and round defenders before using great footwork to avoid contact while finishing at the rim. She drew several fouls and got to the line, converting on multiple And One opportunities. With her ability to twist and turn, contorting her body in the air, Ty still impressively finished through contact. In the game I watched against Team Berry, they could not stop Ousley from getting past the initial defender and getting into the heart of the defense where she also showed great vision and made good looks to her open teammates when the defense collapsed. When she is allowed to get a head of steam and her momentum going downhill on the break, there wasn’t much other teams could do to stop it. The baseline was packed with multiple Power Four coaches who had to have come away as impressed as I was.

Ty’s impressive spring and summer propelled her into the top 10 of the updated Class of 2028 rankings. Her continued development has been matched by a surge in college interest, picking up offers from Mississippi State, FAU, St. John’s, UAB, and Seton Hall since May alone. She will also suit up for Grandview Prep during her junior season to add another exciting chapter to her development. Ty possesses a strong, athletic frame, tight ball handling, and consistently pressures defenses by attacking downhill with her combination of speed, strength, and explosiveness. Her perimeter shot has shown noticeable improvement with each evaluation, making her an even more complete offensive threat. She also competes with a high motor on the defensive end by using her athleticism to disrupt plays and impact the game on both sides of the floor.

Ty’s transition will be one of the most intriguing storylines to follow this summer. At her previous school, she was consistently the focal point of opposing scouting reports, often facing double teams and being face-guarded to take the ball out of her hands. Now, she’ll join a program coming off back-to-back state championships and be surrounded by college-level talent which creates a much different environment than the one she has been accustomed to. While the adjustment may take time, it’s a move that aligns well with her aspirations of playing at the highest level as she’ll be challenged daily by talented teammates and elevated expectations. Grandview Prep looked like a completely different team in March than it did during the previous June live period, and it’ll be fascinating to see how this year’s group takes shape at the FABC Scholastic Live Period before continuing to develop chemistry and identity throughout the season.

Ty brought a physical, high-energy presence to the floor and consistently made winning plays. Her frame and strength stood out, especially on defense where she recorded multiple emphatic blocks and a well-timed tip block on a perimeter shot. She played with toughness offensively, drawing contact and converting and-one finishes while maintaining a high motor throughout the weekend. She also showed offensive control with a jump stop into a smooth 10-foot jumper and demonstrated a change of direction ability that allows her to create separation off the dribble. Ty is one of the most exciting players to watch in the state!

Ty is an elite athlete whose physical tools and upside immediately stand out when watching her play. She has the ability to rise up effortlessly around the rim and elevate into her mid-range jumper, making her a difficult cover in multiple areas on the floor. After being somewhat under the radar previously, she has started earning both regional and national attention this summer while playing with Duval Elite . She carried a heavy load for her high school team, but what has been especially impressive is how smoothly she has transitioned into a talented travel ball environment, which is not always an easy adjustment for players. Her strong play this weekend led to her first D1 offers from Seton Hall and Mississippi State. She will also be playing at Grandview Prep next season, which should only help accelerate her development and growth moving forward.

Ty is super crafty with the ball and did a nice job of using her body to create space for herself during the 3×3 part of camp. She has excellent bounce and sent away a ton of shots using her vertical and length. Her crossover is quick and hard to defend, and she did a great job of pushing the ball in transition. I was impressed to see her hit some outside shots which could take her game to the next level.

finished last season ranked 24th in the state, averaging 22.8 PPG with a season-high 44-point game. Ousley scores with a combination of athleticism and creative ball-handling, using quick crossovers and snatch-backs to keep defenders off balance as she attacks her spots. She now looks to showcase these skills against some of the best in her class. The question is: will she emerge as the top scorer at the Sophomore Showcase?

Ty has nice length for her size and made winning plays for her team in Orlando in the games I watched. She had some tough blocks on the defensive end and a nasty euro step on the offensive end. Towards the end of a tight game, she hit a big 3 ball from the corner and then proceeded to get a steal and score a huge And 1 for a win.

Tyaiwana is one of the best athletes in Florida’s 2028 class. Because of that, she’s made one of the biggest leaps in this update of the rankings. Her ability to get to the rim, distribute the ball, and score it from all three levels make her a name to know in South Florida.
