Wednesday, we released the Summer rankings update for the Class of 2025. The number of prospects listed grew from 160 to 175 total prospects, and while the Top-75 remained a Top-75, the 85-player watchlist became a 100-player watchlist. At this time, I wanted to highlight all of the point guards in the Class of 2025 we have listed at this time, as well as highlight a handful of ladies who were newly added this time around.

NEW-COMERS:
MaKaela saw a significant increase in her playing opportunity from her Freshman year to her Sophomore year, and she backed it up, averaging 10.4 points per game for the Lady Wildkats. She is a very nice athlete in all directions, she has some burst as well, and she is a playmaker. She is more of a scorer right now than a traditional point guard, but she can defend the position and initiate the offense when needed. She will also make plays defensively, and she rebounds solidly at her size. If she can become more of a true point guard than a combo, I think it could definitely help her recruiting.
Concordia is trying to get back to their prominence, and they have played several younger ladies the past couple of years to build experience. Lauren is a big part of their future, and she saw quite a bit of opportunity as a Sophomore, sharing the ball with a 2023 graduate. Next season, the ball should be in her hands almost exclusively, and that’s a good thing, because she is always very steady. She plays with poise, doesn’t force a lot of action, and seems to understand pace. She was third on the team in scoring (7.0 ppg), but it was her rebounding (4.2 rpg) and assists (2.5 apg) that stood out to me. All should increase.
I’m not sure many people are familiar with Emery, but she is a talented multisport athlete for the Lady Bulldogs. She has averaged in double-figures for two years now, but during the 2022-2023 season, she was significantly better at both ends of the floor. First, while she can score it (12.3 ppg), she is an excellent passer (4.5 apg), a solid rebounder at her size (3.3 rpg), plus she is a playmaker at the defensive end (4.9 spg). Most of her points are from attacking the basket and/or drawing free throw opportunities, so if she can continue to improve her perimeter shooting, she’ll be dangerous at all three levels.
