Yeah, I know. I didn't get to it before the first round of games and that's kind of like cheating, especially after a couple of big time upsets on the first night. But, I didn't want to do rankings to begin with. So, here we go:

No. 1 - Edmond North (1-0) - Until someone halts their 37-game winning streak, the Huskies will continue to be numero uno. They may have lost Laci Steele to the No. 5-ranked NC State Wolfpack, but they have Creighton-bound (and No. 3-ranked) [player_tooltip player_id='249267' first='Allison' last='Heathcock'] along with fellow seniors [player_tooltip player_id='241014' first='Kate' last='Melton'] (No. 29), [player_tooltip player_id='318207' first='KK' last='Peeler'] (No. 69), and [player_tooltip player_id='525661' first='Mallory' last='Jackson'] (No. 89). Their quest for a "three-peat" began on Tuesday with a 49-29 win over PC North.

No. 2 - Putnam City West (2-0) - There's gonna be a lot of people who think that the Patriots should be number one and they probably have a good case with early season wins over Glen Rose (TX) and perennial power Norman (0-1). But, this can all be settled in mid-January at the Jenks/Union Invitational should the stars align properly. Perhaps No. 1-ranked 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='242119' first='Caya' last='Smith'], recently committed to the Sooners, can carry the Patriots to the promised land in her junior season.

No. 3 - Norman North (1-0) - The Wolves made it to the Quarterfinals last season and look to be on a path to State again after a big opening night win over Deer Creek. No. 17-ranked 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='309986' first='Seleh' last='Harmon'] has honed her skills for years against the phenomenal class of 2025 and now she and No. 37-ranked [player_tooltip player_id='310158' first='Olivia' last='Watkins'] look to show what they can do.

No. 4 - Broken Arrow (0-0) - The highest ranked team from up north or out east or however you wanna say it is opening their schedule as we speak at a tournament in Missouri. Led by Nebraska commit and newly named Naismith Watchlister [player_tooltip player_id='309979' first='McKenzie' last='Mathurin'], the Tigers are looking to get back to the state playoffs after bowing out to PC West in the quarterfinals last season.

No. 5 - Choctaw (1-0) - The Yellowjackets played an outstanding team game on Tuesday against Southmoore with numerous players scoring in double-digits. The team is loaded with seniors with [player_tooltip player_id='480770' first='Katelyn' last='Davis'] (No. 41), [player_tooltip player_id='577039' first='Brooke' last='Curry'] (No. 124), and [player_tooltip player_id='633851' first='Shelbie' last='Pherigo'] (No. 142).

No. 6 - Sand Springs (1-0) - Here is where I get the benefit of having seen teams play before doing my "preseason" rankings. Sand Springs absolutely put it on last season's semifinalists Edmond Memorial on opening night, led by senior [player_tooltip player_id='781793' first='Sakauri' last='Wilson']. Their team defense was phenomenal and gave the Bulldogs fits.

No. 7 - Edmond Memorial (0-1) - Speaking of the Bulldogs, they had a really bad shooting night against Sand Springs on the road in their opening game. But, there is no way that two of the top juniors in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='309983' first='Janiyah' last='Williams'] (No. 5) and [player_tooltip player_id='315217' first='Avery' last='Hjelmstad'] (No. 7) are going to be off like that very often. There is too much talent on this team and I expect a huge turnaround after this wake up call.

No. 8 - Norman (0-1) - And speaking of wake up calls, having to play PC West right out of the gate is just downright unfair. But, the Tigers have No. 2-rankled 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='309980' first='Keeley' last='Parks'] and a really exciting sophomore in [player_tooltip player_id='483160' first='Ady' last='Hybl'], as well as great coaching. I don't expect them to be down for long.

No. 9 - Union (1-0) - Watching highlights of Union against Bartlesville gave me the feeling that Head Coach Chaun Davis might have the Redhawks back on the right track to the state tourney. No. 25-ranked [player_tooltip player_id='249261' first='Aaliyah' last='Smith'] is an absolute force down low at 6'2" and she was a big problem for the Bruins, even though they focused on her defensively.

No. 10 - Yukon (1-0) - This No. 10 spot will probably be in flux all season, but for now it is going to Yukon after a 49-43 win over Edmond Santa Fe. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='249277' first='Gabrielle' last='Tilley'], an NSU-commit, can shoot it and is a great defender. [player_tooltip player_id='847048' first='Akayla' last='Coolidge'] (2026) is also one to watch.
