Need defense? Senior [player_tooltip player_id='551215' first='Cherish' last='Haywood'] will provide it. She's athletic, reads the game well and has great anticipatory skills while playing on or off the ball. Need scoring? Junior [player_tooltip player_id='396323' first='Mya' last='Alston'] will provide it. She has a silky jumper, and a developing all around scoring game. But it takes more than just two to tango in Oklahoma's largest classification. That's where two prospects who were standouts this past summer enter the picture for Mustang. Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='918266' first='Paige' last='Fulmer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='939790' first='Mila' last='Muro'] are part of a strong young core, that will be expected to be grow up fast as Mustang aims for another State Tournament run.

Lady Panthers ready for the primetime?

Last season saw an exciting guard based Putnam City North team complete a turn around from a 9-13 team to a 21-7 mark. Complete with a Class 6A State Tournament appearance. Many of those some guards are back, including the senior duo of [player_tooltip player_id='310156' first='HaNiya' last='Geretta'] and [player_tooltip player_id='802022' first='Nykaiya' last='Dillard']. Gerretta is an explosive scorer and Dillard is one of the tougher two-way guards in Oklahoma. With winning experience and the talent already on the roster, North would already be in contention to make it back to the State Tournament. But they also received an addition, in Auburn bound [player_tooltip player_id='315218' first='Brandie' last='Harrod']. The athletic wing should fit in perfect with the guard based roster. After spending last year as the hunters, the Lady Panthers will now be the hunted as a team that's expected to be top 5 in the state. The talent is clearly there for PCN to handle the pressure and compete for a state title.

Sapulpa is back in Class 6A for the first time since 2020. They've been a force in Class 5A, wining titles in 2021 and 2023. So despite the lofty heights of the program, there's a bit of uncertainty around the program given Class 6A is significantly deeper than Class 5A. This also will be the first year in a few that they haven't had either of the Heard Sisters (Stailee Class of 2023 and Tyla Class of 2024) to help lead the way. But the culture is still there and they return key upperclassmen [player_tooltip player_id='315186' first='Wrigley' last='Adkisson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='574232' first='Riki' last='Mcquarters']. Adkisson is a tall stretch forward, while McQuarters is a dynamic and explosive guard. Mix in exciting sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='606317' first='Lucchese' last='Chaney'] and [player_tooltip player_id='909642' first='Kianna' last='Littlebear'], and Sapulpa has the pieces to roll with the punches and make noise while back in Class 6A.

The Future is now for Deer Creek and Jenks?

Class 6A is dominated by star power that often comes from experienced players. But the power of youth can shake things up, and there's two programs on each side of the state that have the upside to upset the expected order. Deer Creek is anchored by skilled and mobile sophomore forward, Adrian Radinovic. She was a bright spot as a freshman for Deer Creek, Around her is an exciting group of guards in fellow sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='751183' first='Darien' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1052515' first='Jazlyn' last='Menifee'], along with big time freshman [player_tooltip player_id='901716' first='Nadia' last='Traylor']. Add in sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='804176' first='Laila' last='Willoby-Taylor'] for additional post depth and they have the formula to be a problem sooner rather than later.

It's a similar formula for the east side Lady Trojans. Sophomore forward [player_tooltip player_id='918249' first='Hazel' last='Ifeoma'] is an athletic prospect, who looks on the verge of a sophomore year breakout. Helping her out are a fellow pair of 2027 guards, [player_tooltip player_id='751189' first='Jayda' last='Sykes'] and Jaedyn Jones. Jones is an athletic tone setter on both ends of the court. While Sykes one second will hit a big jumper, the next get to the rim and also compete on the defensive end.

Feeling like 2015 in Broken Arrow?

Come March, it will be 10 years since Oklahoma's largest school district lifted the Gold Ball. History could repeat itself as with McKenize Mathurin leading the way, the Lady Tigers look poised for a run to the 405 to compete for the Gold Ball. She's an elite scorer, who will draw the attention of the defense and will still find ways to be efficient. And the Tigers have the pieces around her to make her life easier. [player_tooltip player_id='331833' first='Peyton' last='Dolan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='453928' first='Kate' last='Wiginton'] are floor spacing shooters. [player_tooltip player_id='315224' first='Macy' last='Marraccini'] always makes the right reads at the point guard spot. And [player_tooltip player_id='315202' first='Taryn' last='Jacobs'] is a blue collar, hard working interior battler and rebounder. Keep an eye on Rekiah Brown, who has athletic upside for the deep squad with big dreams.
