A great day of basketball in Hutchinson Sports Arena found me courtside for all four class 3A quarterfinal games. After the dust settles I like to put together my all-tournament teams for the first day of a tournament when I get to see all eight teams. An interesting thing to check as you read through my teams is to compare it versus my pre-tournament analysis. Be sure to review my 3A players to watch. Now, I am not a statistics driven. I look at skill sets, future skills sets and game impact. Agree or disagree with mine, here are my all-tournament teams. Of note, when you get to state tournament time team's are only as good as their floor general(s) are.

First Team

[player_tooltip player_id='616737' first='Logan' last='Nolan'], 5'4", PG, Colby, 2025 - The Colby Community College commit played like I anticipated. Matched up with an very good, equally as fast and quick [player_tooltip player_id='773208' first='Emory' last='Speece'], she showed how next level she is. Very strong on both ends of the floor, right away Osage City discovered a point guard, and a team, that anticipates and fights over/through ball screens better than any team in the tournament. She led an experienced bunch who executed on both ends of the floor, took quality shots and crushed the Indians with transition offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='621266' first='Shaylee' last='Holzmeister'], 5'7", SF, Colby, 2026 - When you completely shut down one of the top freshman scorers in the state, only giving up 11 points when it mattered, you are doing something. [player_tooltip player_id='899198' first='Kaelyn' last='Boss'] entered the game averaging 23.2 points per game and has scored nearly 500 points. Colby would not allow her to get anything going and Holzmeister was on her like glue all game. Boss shot 4/13 from the floor including 3/7 from three point land. Also impressive was her play on the other end. The forward poured in 23 points on 9/13 shooting. She has a great frame, great hands, transitions well including running lanes and obviously is a great defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='544036' first='Addisen' last='Wills'], 5'6", CG, Halstead, 2026 - Wills, second teamer Kaci Young, and honorable mention [player_tooltip player_id='884873' first='Jordy' last='Schroeder'] were an absolutely nightmare for Neodesha. The Blue Streaks were never allowed to get comfortable in their offense, were forced to use their best scorer at the point, and were just run out of the gym by Wills and the speedy Dragons. She finished with 18 points on 8/13 shooting, generated 4 of the team's 14 assists and collected 5 of Dragons' 15 steals. And only 1 turnover. Quick, fast and heady Wills showed strong handles and a great ability to slip through defenders in the half court to score athletically.

[player_tooltip player_id='1215999' first='Callie' last='Yoder'], 5'4", PG, Hesston, 2026 - Early it was readily apparent just how important Yoder is to the Swather offense. Her leadership, headiness, passing ability - especially inside - made the team run much smoother. No disrespect to her game, younger and less experienced back-ups, when Yoder came off the floor early due to foul trouble, Holcomb was much more effective defensively. And better defense produced better offense. Holcomb was full of shooters and when Yoder, particularly when Hesson's zone got blown-up from the start, matched up with opposing ball handlers, everything grinded to a halt for the Longhorns. Rarely got a perimeter look.

[player_tooltip player_id='416009' first='Kailyn' last='Hanni'], 5'7", PG, Silver Lake, 2026 - The Eagles put Girard on their heels right away by opening up with 7 points and generating several steals before the ball ever got hear the top of the key level. Hanni and company would lead 17-6 after the first quarter. And in that quarter, she had 3 steals, 3 assists and be fouled 3 times. Girard fought hard but never got within 6 points the rest of the game. Her final numbers were big: 22 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals. She committed 4 turnovers but only 1 foul versus being fouled 14 times. 16/19 from the line was just defeating for a team trying to get back in the game. Even without those numbers what makes Hanni so good is how much better she makes everybody around her better.
