Today, the word attitude came to my mind. Not in a bad way, but in a sense that when it comes to the game of basketball, you have to have a certain edge to you. The second word that came to me was rebounding. You have to have an attitude and a will to go after the ball anytime it doesn't go through the net. Pros have made a living rebounding the ball. Some NBA players will be Hall of Famers not only because they can score the basketball, but also rebound it as well. It may take energy and effort to do so, but it is an important trait you must have to help your ball club succeed.

Being aggressive and getting on the boards is a must. It can eliminate second-chance opportunities if you are on the defensive end; if your team possesses the ball, it gives them another opportunity to score. Shoot, I am superstitious, and every time an offensive team gets multiple rebounds, eventually that ball is going through the net before the other team gets a chance to go the other way. I'm unsure why, but it just seems that way in my opinion. Sometimes I feel like the importance of rebounding the basketball is overlooked. Yet, I think of Dennis Rodman, who made a living and won championships by excelling at this skill. My advice: take pride in going after the basketball. Not only does it help your team, but in a coach's mind, you become even more valuable because you have another trait that can keep you on the floor.

I did some research, and I wish more media outlets covered all stats as a whole, but I wanted to see who some of the better rebounding young ladies were in our state. According to MaxPreps, here are some of the top rebounders in the state from last season.

To make a long story short, take pride in going to gain the rebound. Not only does it help your team, but it can also transcend yourself in a different light. The more you can do on the floor, the more valuable you are to a team and the more of a prospect you become when it comes to being recruited. Energy, effort, will, pride, and heart. All controllable things you can do. Be a rebounder and add a trait that will help elevate who you are in this game.
