August means a litany of things on the basketball calendar. While the eyes of many high school sports fans will be focused on volleyball courts and football gridirons, August is the first month of many Prep Girls Hoops Freshman Showcases around the country.

Showcase events such as those as well as Sophomore ID Camps and Expos provide opportune tune-ups for many a prospect heading into the season. After all, prospects are always looking to add collegiate offers to their resumes and we are in commitment season for many a senior.

With the litany of talent there is across South Carolina, one would expect that the offers would continue to flow in – and they have. Without further ado, here is the latest from the Palmetto State's recruitment trail.

At the beginning of last week, the talented standout from 4A Lower Richland added another in-state offer to her portfolio. Lander and its coach – Nicole Shelwick – has Sumter on its radar. This is in addition to previous offers she had from Shorter, Coker, Allen and Claflin. The Diamond Hornets finished last season with a record of 25-2 and advanced to the 4A Lower State championship game. Sumter helped greatly in the Diamond Hornets' efforts as she averaged 13.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.9 steals per contest. The Morgan Stroman era has commenced for the Diamond Hornets and he hopes to continue the team's robust success with Sumter entering her senior season.

We remain in the Midlands and turn our attention to another prospect from a 4A school. As the week commenced, Thompson announced that she landed her first offer – an in-state get from Newberry College. Thompson takes her talents from the SCISA realm at 4A Cardinal Newman to Gray Collegiate – a team which held its own despite a somewhat controversial jump from 2A to 4A. One of the more imposing interior presences in the state, Thompson averaged 10 points and 8.8 rebounds last season for the Cardinals and will provide a massive boost to coach Brandon Wallace's War Eagles in 2025-26.

Coach Johnette Walker at Newberry College has been doing plenty of blazing of South Carolina's recruiting trail. Not only was the Cardinal-turned-War Eagle Thompson offered by Walker, but an offer was also extended in the direction of this talented veteran from 5A Division 1 Ashley Ridge. She adds this offer to a previous one she had from Flagler of the Peach Belt Conference. She recently concluded her spring and summer running with FBC United Reign on the grassroots circuit. Foley's basketball schedule remains active as she is set to take part in the inaugural Passion Driven Showcase this weekend at the Pearl Moore Center in Florence.

Speaking of Florence – more specifically 4A South Florence – we shine a spotlight on one of the Pee Dee's best and brightest. Being a 2029, Bostick has plenty of time to stack offers and her latest one was of the in-state variety courtesy of Presbyterian and coach Tiffany Sardin. Bostick's offer from Presby is her second offer as she landed one early in the calendar from another in-state school in South Carolina State. As an eighth grader with the Bruins, she proudly wore South Florence colors on 25 occasions and averaged 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks for a team that finished with a record of 16-9.

From a Harmony to a Harmoni – Earl that is. Several time zones separate the states of South Carolina and California, but that is where this talented star from the Upstate received her latest offer. Cal State-Fullerton has Earl on its radar. She ran with AEBL Girlz during the spring and summer months of AAU and made statewide headlines earlier during the offseason when she transferred out of 5A Division 2 T.L. Hanna to Westside – last season's 4A state runners-up. If she brings the 16 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 steals she averaged last season to the Rams, her new team could be the last assembling standing among a highly competitive 4A field.

Speaking of noteworthy transfers, McMillan also made headlines earlier in the offseason with the move she made from 2A Fairfield Central to SCISA 4A Hammond. A few days ago, McMillan announced that she landed an offer from Winston Salem State and its head coach Tierra Rudd. McMillan adds the Rams offer to an in-state get she landed last month from Anderson. In what proved to be her final season as a Griffin, McMillan averaged 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. The [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] product will be a worthwhile addition to a Skyhawks team looking to re-establish itself following a dismal 2024-25.

Following a superb 23-3 season last season, coach Shakkia Walker's 5A Division 1 Clover team is set to once again be one of the groups to beat in 2025-26 as it will fuse together talent with experience. Chambliss is one of the many seniors on this year's Blue Eagles roster and she recently secured an offer from Montreat College just outside of Asheville. Chambliss adds this offer to one she previously received from Davis & Elkins in West Virginia. She played in 26 games last season and recently concluded her final AAU season where she wore the uniforms of EA Lady Stars Bridges and Team KB Bridges. Chambliss is also set to be in attendance at the Pearl Moore Center for the inaugural Passion Driven Showcase this weekend. She is listed at 5-foot-4 and primarily plays point.

The Oliver twins at 5A Division 2 Greenwood are used to landing dual offers and that recently was the case as well with Clover's twin sister act. Not only did Julie receive an offer from Montreat, but Jada secured one as well. She, as was the case with Julie, also was offered by Davis & Elkins last month in the latter portions of club ball. She also had a massive role to play in the Blue Eagles' stellar campaign they put together last season. Chambliss is listed at 5-foot-8 and primarily operates as a two guard in the backcourt. Given the team she is on and the talent she possesses, she is also is more than poised to finish her high school career with an exclamation point.

The recruitment status of this gifted guard from SCISA 4A First Baptist took a major step forward just in the past few days as she was offered by a pair of Maine schools. Maine Maritime Academy as well as the University of New England both extended offers in Pouyat's direction. Pouyat competed in all 32 games last season for the Hurricanes and averaged 8.9 points and 1.9 steals for a First Baptist team that finished 29-3 en route to 4A state runner-up status. As the 2025-26 season lurks, one can expect First Baptist to once again be among the 4A SCISA contenders.

Elliott completed her 2025 grassroots campaign with SC Sixers and has the upcoming 2025-26 season with 5A Division 1 West Ashley on the brains. A few days ago, she would be offered by Guilford College. Elliott is a two-sport athlete who also partakes in soccer alongside her basketball achievements. She has played at the varsity level since she was in the eighth grade and posted career numbers last season. Elliott competed in 24 games last season with the Wildcats and averaged 12.7 points, 3.9 steals and 3.2 rebounds a contest for a West Ashley team that had its winningest season since 2018-19 at 16-11.
The theme for Greenwood in 2025-26 will be unfinished business given the Eagles were 5A Division 2 championship participants from last season. One more season of Johnson will be key in Greenwood's objective to finish said business. Recently, Johnson secured an offer from Parkland College in Illinois. One can see why Cobras coach Jean Demosthenes would be eager to bring this gifted frontcourt force to the Midwest. Johnson played in all 28 games last season for the Eagles and averaged 13.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest. She ran with FBC Next Up SC Lady Wolves during travel ball and her Greenwood bunch will be among the 5A Division 2 state favorites heading into this season.
