Being one of only eight teams to reach the state tournament ranks as a major accomplishment. Take a bow if you're competing in Des Moines this week. Cherish the memory no matter the result.

We thought it would be fun to put together an all-quarterfinal team from the 1A games.

Here's a closer look at who landed on the squad:

[player_tooltip player_id='832196' first='Graclyn' last='Eastman'], 2027, F, Bishop Garrigan: Top-seeded Bishop Garrigan wasn't in the mood for an upset in Wednesday's quarterfinal round, and Eastman was at the forefront of the Golden Bears taking care of business. The junior posted a game-high 24 points in a 24-point victory against Kee Lansing. Eastman, who shot 11 of 17 from the floor, grabbed 14 rebounds, swiped seven steals and blocked four shots in 29 minutes. She tallied 13 points, three steals, two rebounds and an assist as Garrigan built a 16-5 lead after one quarter. The Bears led by at least nine points the rest of the way.

[player_tooltip player_id='789125' first='Ava' last='Fuelling'], 2027, G, Dunkerton: In what was expected to be a close contest, fifth-seed Dunkerton overwhelmed No. 4 and previously-unbeaten Lynnville-Sully by 21 points in Wednesday's 1A quarterfinals. Fueling served as the engine, scoring 22 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the floor, including 6 for 9 from behind the arc. She added three rebounds, two assists and two steals. The Raiders raced out to an 14-5 advantage with Fuelling scoring eight points and assisting on two other baskets. Her three-pointer put them ahead 21-7 late in the first period. The advantage grew to 20 points two minutes into the second quarter, and Dunkerton controlled the game from there.

[player_tooltip player_id='832216' first='Kylee' last='Pexa'], 2027, G, Dunkerton: It's been one heck of a school year for Plexa, who led a state semifinalist volleyball squad in kills and digs. Her 14 points, eight steals, five assists, two rebounds and block helped the hoops team reach the state semifinals with a convincing win against Lynnville-Sully on Wednesday. During a decisive second quarter, Plexa was in her bag, scoring points, setting up teammates and being a pesky defender. Her steals consistently led to points off of turnovers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1238114' first='Quinn' last='Sievers'], 2029, G, Newell-Fonda: Talk about a spark off of the bench, folks won't soon forget this freshman's first state tournament game. Seivers scored 17 points in 21 minutes as a reserve during the second-seeded Mustangs' 19-point victory versus No. 8 Saint Ansgar in Wednesday's 1A quarterfinals. She also chipped in with three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals. Sievers came into the game with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter and delivered a steal leading to a lay-up quickly thereafter. The ninth-grader continued playing beyond her years the rest of the way.

[player_tooltip player_id='901710' first='Avah' last='Underwood'], 2026, F, St. Albert: Underwood sparkled in cleaning the glass during Wednesday's 45-37 , 1A-quarterfinal victory against Exira-EHK. The senior forward ripped down 17 rebounds to go with 11 points, two assists, two steals and a pair of blocks. Underwood, a Wayne State pledge, delivered down the stretch for the Saintes. Clinging to a two-point lead with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, Underwood secured an offensive rebound before converting a lay-up. She then blocked a shot, which led to a bucket for her squad. Shortly after that, Underwood followed a defensive rebound with a lay-in on the other end that extended the lead to eight, which held up.
