Layla is an enjoyable front-liner to watch, because she does so many different things for her team at a high level. First, she is strong and willing to be physical, so she will battle in and around the paint. Defensively, she is averaging 3.0 blocked shots per game, and she could finish with more this year than her first two years combined. She is also a capable rebounder, collecting an average of 8.9 caroms per contest. Layla is a solid ball-handler, a really nice passer, and she can handle it some in transition. In fact, there are times when I feel like she would almost prefer to be more of a facilitator than a scorer. Regardless, I think she will draw a lot of small college attention this Spring.

Layla is a player who I have raved about over the last six months, because she is every small college’s dream. She has a strong frame, the physicality to enforce her will at either end of the floor inside the paint, plus she has soft hands, and solid finishing moves around the basket. Additionally, she has a good enough handle to push it in transition, and she is an outstanding passer with great vision from the top of the key. Ideally, she’s one of those face-up ‘4s’ who can give you 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists while filling multiple roles.

Layla has a very complimentary inside-out game, and I think she could be one of those kids in the Spring of 2026 who many of the good small colleges in the Midwest are locked in on. She has a strong frame, she’s willing to be physical in and around the paint, and she can score it inside with a variety of finishes. At the same time, Layla can handle the ball in transition and around the perimeter, plus she sees the floor well and passes the ball like a point forward. I think she’s the perfect type of skillful ‘4’ a lot of schools will covet in eight months.

Layla was one of the more physical prospects on hand Monday morning, but what’s more impressive is the fact that she is as skilled/as effective at 20-feet as she is inside of 12-feet. She can play strong around the paint, score, rebound, and defend. But Layla is also skilled with the ball in her hands, especially as a passer, and she does have some touch that can extend to 3-point range at times. I anticipate her having a big Junior season.
