It was really good to see Ja’Nyiah with Purdue Poly this past weekend, because she has a different role from grassroots ball to high school ball. While she is expected to bring energy and defend on both teams, she plays with a lot more versatility on her high school team. With her grassroots team, she is often on the wing, where she can bury open rhythm jumpers consistently. With Purdue Poly, however, she handles it a lot more, creates off the dribble for herself, finds teammates as well, but still takes and makes open perimeter jumpers. She is a really nice, versatile small college prospect who helps in different ways.

Rogers is a physical, aggressive guard that attacks downhill and embraces contact around the basket. She consistently pressured defenses in transition and showed the ability to score while playing at a fast pace.

Her toughness and defensive presence were major factors throughout the AAU season. Rogers competes hard on both ends, creates turnovers, and impacts the game beyond scoring. Offensively, she continues to improve as a shot creator and perimeter scorer, which adds another dimension to her game. She plays with confidence and doesn’t shy away from big moments. Her production and competitiveness this spring certainly helped establish herself as one of the more underrated shooting guards in the 2027 class.

In a day and age when everything is fast-paced and immediate, it’s sometimes fun to watch a guard like Ja’Nyiah who plays with sort of an “old school” pace to her game. She still has some speed & quickness to her, and she does a nice job of picking her spots to use burst, but for the most part she doesn’t force the action and lets everything come to her. This weekend, when she was open, she made shots. When she wasn’t, she found the open teammate and made the best decision with the basketball. I think she’s an undervalued option in today’s game, and a lot of small colleges will like her.

She has a strong feel for the game, plays with confidence, and consistently makes the right decisions with the basketball in her hands. Her ability to control the pace and run a team stands out, especially as a true floor general.

Being part of the Indiana Basketball Club 17U team will only help elevate her exposure. With the level of talent around her and the competition they are facing, this is the type of stage where players can really make a name for themselves. Ja’Nyiah has the opportunity to showcase her skills in front of more college coaches, and her playmaking ability, leadership, and poise should continue to stand out.

As she continues to compete and perform at a high level this spring and summer, collegiate opportunities will start to follow. She is a guard that can quietly impact winning in multiple ways, and once more coaches take notice, her recruitment should continue to pick up.
