Olliana was a midseason transfer who came to Westville from nearby Valparaiso High School. She was only eligible for six games for the Blackhawks, averaging 8.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Once she gets a full Summer and preseason with her new teammates, they should be a force in Class 1A. Olliana is a strong, fairly physical post, but she also has a nice face-up game. She can knock down the jumper, plus she is a good passer from the high post. At 6-1, with the guards Westville has, Olliana should be a walking double-double next year.

Over the past 9-12 months, I’ve been pretty impressed with Olliana’s overall development in her game. She looks like she has finished growing, but she has gotten a little more explosive, she looks longer, and she has improved her skill while maintaining her physical nature. She is able to play physical around the rim while still finishing with skill and touch. At the same time, she also has touch facing the basket and is able to step out and consistently knock down open jumpers. Lastly, I feel like her footwork has improved defensively.

I’ve seen Olliana a few times previously, but what stood out most at this showcase was her continuation to play through the whistle at each end of the floor. She didn’t take possessions “off”, she was very active on the boards, and she was aggressive inside as a scorer. This version of her is definitely sure to draw a variety of college interest over the next couple of years. I am excited to see more of her moving forward this Spring.
