Expert Analysis
Darvoni Christopher | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Riley Roberts gives Floyd Central a strong interior presence entering June ball. She brings size, physicality, and rebounding ability that immediately impacts games, especially against teams lacking frontcourt depth. Roberts does a strong job establishing position around the basket and consistently finishes through traffic while battling for second-chance opportunities.
Defensively, she anchors the paint well and provides toughness around the rim. June will be a big opportunity for Roberts to continue showing improvement in mobility, defensive timing, and offensive versatility facing stronger competition. Her ability to control the glass and provide interior stability makes her a valuable piece for Floyd Central heading into the summer. Centers who consistently rebound and defend remain valuable at every level, and Roberts has the tools to continue climbing.

Riley showed why she is such a tough matchup in the paint. The skilled post has soft hands, advanced footwork, and a strong presence around the basket. She protected the rim at a high level and looked like a double-double threat every game. What also stood out was the continued development of her offensive skill set, including a reliable mid-range jumper.

I feel like Riley could have a really big Spring & Summer and draw a great deal of varying college interest. She has an athletic frame, some strength, a lot of length, and she moves well in most directions. The talent has always been there, and she has a solid skillset, but the two best players for the Highlanders this season were both dynamic wings who took a lot of shots for Floyd Central. Next year, Riley will likely be relied on much more heavily to be productive. Based on what I’ve seen and other opinions I’ve gotten, she has as much potential as the posts ahead of her on this list.

I first saw Riley during the Spring, and she is incredibly intriguing. She has nice length, a developing frame that should get stronger and possibly still add another inch or two, plus she already plays with physicality and doesn’t shy away from contact. She looks most comfortable around the block, but she does extend herself to the short corners and the mid-post, often knocking down a 12 to 15-foot jump-shot. She moves well in most directions, plus she rim-runs hard. I feel like she has a lot of potential and is just scratching the surface.
