Continue ReadingCherokee Trail was a team that was full of talented players, girls who all played different roles in the team’s success. Madeline Gibbs Madeline Gibbs 5’11” | SG Cherokee Trail | 2025 State CO was a player that flew a bit under the radar, she is a knockdown shooter. She is the type of shooter that can get it done in a variety of ways, off screens, pick and roll and even a walk up. Occasionally she can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim.
Highlights
Roosevelt managed to pull off back-to-back championships this season with Ryanne Bahnsen-Price Ryanne Bahnsen-Price 6’0″ | SG Roosevelt | 2025 State CO being one of the players leading the charge. Ryanne’s game has taken some huge strides over the past two years, whether it’s being a top scoring option or sitting back and letting the game come to her. With that being said she has been able to turn more of her focus to the defensive end of the floor, using her length to get into passing lanes and get deflections.
Highlights
Legacy’s Olivia Mortensen Olivia Mortensen 5’9″ | SG Legacy | 2025 State CO is the lefty guard that is surely underrated, but she has begun to grab the attention of players and coaches around the state. At 5’9 is moves and plays like a guard but can also defend some of the more mobile post players. Olivia is a crafty finisher at the rim that uses her body to shield off bigger defenders. Over the last two years she has shown some improvements with her jump shot.
When talking about shooting guards Avery Alcaraz Avery Alcaraz 5’8″ | SG Fort Collins | 2025 State CO tends to be one that gets brought up often. She has been the heart and soul of the Fort Collins team for the last two years, providing them with a consistent scoring option. Since she’s seen an uptake in minutes Avery has gotten better at finding open teammates and getting them the ball in spaces, they can covert.
Highlights
Highlands Ranch was already going to be undersized going into the year, but some injuries lead them to being even smaller than expected. Which is where Ezra Simonich Ezra Simonich 5’10” | SG Highlands Ranch | 2025 State CO came in and was able to help out. The Colorado Christian commit played in post for most of the season on the defensive end of the floor, where she was able to use her speed and athleticism to make it tough for opposing post. On offense it caused a mismatch, allowing her to use her quick frost step to blow past and get to the rim.
Highlights
The season Rock Canyon had put the state on notice that they are a sharp shooting team that doesn’t backdown from anybody. A major piece to that success was the rise of Brooke Harding Brooke Harding 5’10” | SG Rock Canyon | 2025 State CO . Not only is she one of the best shooters in the state regardless of class, but her percentages also make her one of the most efficient. As the season went on you could see the game started to slow down for her. Especially when it came to making the reads on the offensive end of the floor.
Eaglecrest has had a tough time for the past two years with Amaia Jones Amaia Jones 5’5″ | SG Eaglecrest | 2025 State CO being in and out of the lineup. She missed last season when she had an ACL injury but was able to come back this season and be a great scoring option for the team. In six games this season she was able to put up 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists a game before suffering an injury that kept her out for the rest of the year.
Another Mansanares sister comes into this season for Doherty and makes an immediate impact. In first season in a larger role Brianne came in and carried a lot of the load offensively for the Spartan’s. It took a couple of games for her to get used to the speed and how much more aggressive the game is. Once she got comfortable, she proved to be a capable ball handler that can get downhill and finish at the rim.
Highlights
Players that add value to their team from deep make planning defensively really tough for opposing coaches. Ava Gavi Ava Gavi 5’6″ | SG Legend | 2025 State CO did exactly that for Legend this past season. She was a reliable catch and shoot option all year, her quick release makes it really hard to get out and contest. Ava was also a huge part of the team on defense, she is a pesky defender that loves to get under player’s skin.
Callie Gillespie Callie Gillespie 5’10” | SG Resurrection Christian | 2025 State CO has proven to be the ultimate glue girl over the past two years. She’s a player that can do a little bit of everything on either side of the ball. Defensively she does her best to make shots tough without fouling. While offensively she can knockdown the 3-ball when open, she also has the ability to get easy looks from crashing the glass offense.
