MICHIGAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Feb. 2nd-8th

<p>The Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Player of the Week Award is given to one student-athlete among many deserving candidates who demonstrates excellence during a week of their team's competition. The winner contributes to their team's success in multiple statistical categories to help her team compete to their best potential. Several players were deserving of recognition, but only one can be selected for Player of the Week. Those not chosen as Player of the Week received recognition as Player of the Week Honorable Mention. Here are the girls who had a magnificent tenth week of the season and it's time to celebrate their accomplishments!</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Jayla has stepped into a star role for Saginaw Heritage in just her first year on varsity. She's been reliable and dependable for the Hawks all season, averaging 17 points per game against SVL opponents and 15.1 points overall. Jayla broke a Legends Heritage single-game scoring record last week when she poured in 34 points during a 67-38 win against Flint Carman-Ainsworth. Jayla added 20 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in a 59-24 victory against Mount Pleasant. She finished the week with 54 points and is quickly becoming one of the best guards in the Saginaw Valley League. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Rayah became the fourth player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points last week. She scored 23 during a 55-33 win against Williamston and 25 in a 59-36 win against Harper Creek. Rayah is a sharpshooter who can slash to the rim and set up teammates with pinpoint passes. The Panthers are 16-1 and a serious title contender in D2. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Madleen was cooking against New Boston Huron and her clutch 3-point shooting down the stretch lifted Flat Rock to a 61-57 comeback win. Madleen scored a career-high 32 points with 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block. She buried five triples in the win. Madleen hit two triples during her 14-point performance in a 34-25 win against Grosse Ille. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Janiyah was great in multiple statistical categories last week, as she has been all season for Center Line. Janiyah posted 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks against Sterling Heights. She followed that up with a monstrous triple-double: 16 points, 15 rebounds, 10 blocks, 8 steals, and 4 assists against Lamphere. Janiyah set a new career high this season with 28 points against Warren Mott.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Sophie is right on track to hit 1,000 career points in the future, passing 500 last week. She is setting the pace in points and rebounds this season, averaging 15.1 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Sophie had 10 points and 13 rebounds against Hale, then added 19 points and 16 rebounds in a win against Posen. She has secured a double-double in all but three games for Au Gres-Sims this season.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Saabiria set a new Wellspring Prep school record last week during a 56-36 win against Muskegon Heights Academy. She exploded for 39 points and 18 rebounds. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Averie was our Dec. 22nd-28th Player of the Week and she had another marvelous week to start February. Averie posted 81 points in two games with 50 points in a 72-49 win against Burton Bendle and 31 in a 53-30 win against Morrice. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Josie is a complete point guard prospect and one of Michigan's best. She led Hudsonville to a 49-34 upset win against a ranked Grand Haven team, scoring 25 points. Josie added 17 points during a 48-36 win against Byron Center.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Evah is one of Michigan's most promising 2028 forward prospects and she provided more proof last week. Evah posted 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in a 78-43 win versus Grand Blanc and added 22 points and 15 rebounds in a 66-42 win against Bay City Western. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Alexis is a feisty on-ball defender and lights out 3-point shooter for the Spartans. She dropped 52 points last week with 11 steals and 9 assists as Imlay City defeated Almont 71-34 and Marine City 55-34. Alexis deflects passes to create steals and finishes with touch around the basket. She shoots with balance and a quick release off the hop or the dribble. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Alivia gives Homer an advantage inside with her toughness and effort. Her determination resulted in a school record 15 made free throws during a 50-47 OT win against Napoleon. She corralled 14 rebounds and led the scoring 30 points. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Rennie has stuffed the stat sheet for Jackson Christian all season and she had another huge week. Rennie scored 42 points in two games with 7 steals. During a 60-33 win against North Adams-Jerome, Rennie jumped passing lanes to create steals, buried smooth triples, and side-stepped defenders with eurosteps to finish layups: she had 30 points. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Kate set a new mark for points in a career during a 58-45 when she scored 17 against Michigan Center last week. Kate had 1,526 career points at the time, which broke Grass Lake's previous 2021 record of 1,512. She now owns school records for career points, steals, and free throws made</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Ella slashes to the basket for layups, hits mid-range pull-up jumpers, and knocks down shots from the perimeter. Her offensive firepower was on full display in two wins last week. Ella dropped 22 points in a 65-39 win against Ida and 20 points in a 55-24 win versus Napoleon. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Lily erupted for 31 points with 4 steals and 4 assists during a 67-59 win against Jonesville. She poured in 20 points in a 65-39 win against Ida. Lily is tough enough to play inside and has the offensive skills to play on the perimeter.
