<p>With the AAU season now underway, we have reached the end of the road with our high school post-season awards. It's always fun recognizing those players who have distinguished themselves throughout the winter campaign, from our Breakout Player of the Year to Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and our All-State selections. Now, for our final act, we bring you a look at the top younger performers of the 2024-25 season.</p>

<p>More than ever before, there are 9th, 8th and even 7th graders playing major roles in varsity basketball. Some. Like Cretin-Derham Hall's [player_tooltip player_id='897060' first='Madeleine' last='Hamiel'] and Hill-Murray's [player_tooltip player_id='923286' first='Ashlee' last='Wilson'] have found their way into our other recognition categories. All have been impact players all winter, names that Minnesota basketball fans and college coaches alike will come to know well over the next few years.</p>

<p><strong>ALL-FRESHMEN 1st TEAM</strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='433933' first='Chloe' last='Johnson'] – The 2028 guard from Duluth Marshall is the top-rated prospect among Minnesota freshmen. She earned 1st team All-State honors in Class 2A.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='908260' first='Maggie' last='Dyer'] – The 2028 guard from Rochester Mayo had a phenomenal second season as an impact varsity player. Ranked #4, the 5'10 guard/forward was named a Class 4A honorable mention.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='908286' first='Lauren' last='Robison'] – The 2028 guard from Lakeville North came back from injury to put together a great post-season for the Panthers. Ranked #15, Robison was a Class 4A All-Tournament team honorable mention.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='644878' first='Sahara' last='Wilson'] – The 2028 forward from Lakeville North had an outstanding freshman campaign. The 6'3 post cemented her status as a top-three prospect in the Class and earned All-Tournament honorable mention at State.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='806429' first='Amelia' last='Mills'] – The other half of Rochester Mayo's elite freshmen tandem, the 2028 guard directed the Spartans attack at a high level all year. Ranked #12 in the Class, she was a Class 4A All-State honorable mention.</p>

<p><strong>ALL-FRESHMEN 2nd TEAM</strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='565312' first='Ari' last='Peterson'] – It was a big jump up in competition this year for the lengthy 2028 forward who moved to Class 4A Minnetonka and the mighty Lake Conference. Rated as the 2nd-best prospect among Minnesota freshmen, Peterson did not disappoint.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='716527' first='Ashna' last='Ramlall'] – The 2028 guard from Rosemount was a rock night after night in the South Suburban Conference as a young Irish team transformed from a post-centric unit to a guard-heavy group. Ranked #5 in the Class of 2028, Ashna is an elite guard who played like it.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='565313' first='Elsa' last='Retzlaff'] – We would need a thousand words to encapsulate all of the accomplishments recorded this season by the 2028 guard from Hillcrest Lutheran. This top-20 prospect earned Class A All-State honorable mention status while rewriting her school's record book.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='897052' first='Tatum' last='Morrison'] – The 2028 guard from Deer River is a veteran of the varsity wars by now in Class A basketball and she played like it all year. Morrison posted big numbers throughout the season while carrying her team on the regular. The 5'8 point guard is a top-25 freshman.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='911664' first='Brianna' last='Eggers'] – The big power forward from Buffalo is a top-10 prospect in the Class of 2028. If her 8th grade season was impressive (it was!) her 9th grade year was even better. The 6'2 power forward went head-to-head with the best of the Lake Conference and more than held her own.</p>
