<p>Selecting one girl to recognize as Player of the Week was a true challenge, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Several players made a strong case, but one standout became the clear choice for this week's award. Those who had a dominant week worthy of consideration have been included in the article as Honorable Mention. Here are the girls who had an outstanding week six. It's time to celebrate their accomplishments!</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Averie will graduate as one of Michigan's most dominant scorers. This week, she became only the 34th player in MHSAA girls basketball history to reach 2,000 career points. Averie started the week with 47 points against Flint Hamady and scored 50 in a 68-29 win vs. Clio to pass 2,000. She scored 57 points with 10 rebounds, eight steals, and seven assists in a 79-61 win vs. Flint New Standard Academy. Averie ended the week with a mind-boggling 150 points, averaging 50 per game, and a 2-1 team record. She's 219 points away from becoming the Flint area's newest all-time leading scorer, with plenty of games left to do it. Averie is Michigan's PGH x Foster Swift Sports Player of the Week for Jan. 11th-17th.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Alexis turned in an explosive double-double during a 42-31 home win with 26 points and 14 steals--she kept her foot on the gas again this week. Alexis shredded the nets with six triples, scoring 29 points during a 54-46 win vs. Croswell-Lexington. She followed that with a dominant 37-point performance in a 54-42 win at Almont. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Brynn turned in a dominant first quarter of the regular season for Lenawee Christian, averaging 19 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists per game in December. She's continued to put up big numbers in January. Brynn scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds during a 55-40 win at Summerfield. She followed with 24 points and four steals in a 53-17 win at Sand Creek.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Maddylynn is closing out her high school career at Merrill in style, averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds per game. She's on pace to surpass 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds this season. Maddy was productive again, putting up two double-doubles during the week. Maddy scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Michigan Lutheran Seminary. She added 20 points and 14 rebounds during a win vs. Coleman. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Sophie shot 8 for 12 from the floor (3/5 3PT) during a 52-23 win vs. Posen, finishing with 19 points, 14 rebounds, six steals, and six blocks. She turned in a second straight double-double with 17 points (2/3 3PT), 17 rebounds, and three blocks in a 33-26 win at Oscoda. Sophie ended the week with another strong performance during a 30-26 win vs. Saginaw Arts and Sciences, posting eight points, 12 rebounds, five steals, and four blocks. AuGres-Sims is 8-1 for the first time since 2008, and Sophie is a big reason why.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Taleah has been a double-double machine for Hamady, and she turned in a dominant effort during a 67-51 win at Genesee. Taleah scored 31 points and grabbed 30 boards. Her physicality, strength, and aggressiveness are tough for opponents to contain.</p>

She contributed with a productive 12 points against Three Rivers in a 55-36 win. Cora has multiple games with two or more threes this season. She's long, active on defense, and a versatile playmaker in the Sturgis program.</p>

She erupted for a game-high 29 points with seven steals, and four rebounds during a 63-19 win against Oakland Christian. She's an athletic, skilled, and dynamic player making an immediate impact for Plymouth Christian as a freshman.</p>

She started with 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists during a 49-30 win vs. Niles. Brooke turned in another productive outing during a 59-35 win at Paw Paw. She scored 22 points, with seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists. She's a long and athletic wing who protects the rim, keeps her hands active to deflect passes, and finishes well with both hands at the rim off two feet.</p>
