It’s the time where we see new faces in new places, new groups joining together, and a whole lot of action as it pertains to high-level basketball throughout the country.
In this article we highlight a group of players from the ETG Midwest Elite 15U 3SSB team. This group is one that should put together a really nice Spring/Summer season as a whole. They have a mixture if prospects from the 2028 and 2027 Classes, that are ready to go and locked in on one common goal ahead. From their first tournament I saw a few weeks ago, they already seem to play for one another, always willing to make the extra pass or go the extra mile for their fellow teammates. If everyone can come in and figure out their specific job on this team right from the jump, they are going to put together a really rememberable year as a whole.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Schedule –
TBD – The program as a whole is still figuring out their schedule for the AAU season, so it is not finalized at this time. If you check back here in a few weeks or look at their social media page, it will be updated but as of now, that’s where we stand.
Jada James Jada James 5’8″ | PG Duchesne Academy Of The Sacred Heart Omaha | 2027 NE joins this group after a really nice Varsity season on the high school floor. James is a prospect that can really shoot the ball, amongst other things. She is at her best playing the 2 position but she can also bring up the ball as the PG, if necessary. This past Winter she demonstrated that she can become unconscious in a hurry when shooting the ball from deep as long as she gets in a rhythm early. My biggest question for James will be how she adapts to playing with other skilled players. At her high school, she is already one of the best and most dominant so as long as she finds her place within this group, she is going to be able to be herself and shine.

If we are comparing prospects that played Varsity ball as Freshman this past season, one of the most productive comes to us in the form of Mollie Probasco Mollie Probasco 5’10” | SF Elkhorn South | 2027 NE of Elkhorn South. Probasco was truly impressive these past few months. She has size, coordination, balance, a smart head on her shoulders, and a ton of raw skill. On her Varsity team this Winter, Probasco really did it all. She scored from all three levels, she rebounded like a maniac, and she defended every position 1-5. On this specific team, she is going to be able to step back and play more of her natural role at the 3/4 spot. This is someone that is going to have a nice career. She should be getting some college attention already but if not, just wait. She is one of the most talented 2027 prospects from Nebraska at this point. If she can build on that moving forward, she will be a hot commodity in the recruiting world over these next few months.
When it comes to Skylar Johnson Skylar Johnson 5’9″ | SG Bennington | 2027 NE ‘s game, it is intriguing. Johnson is someone with a solid combination of size, skill, and athletic ability. She works hard on and off of the ball, always making an impact even if she isn’t scoring in bunches. When players are looking at being recruiting to compete at the next level, versatility is key. The more systems you can play in, the better the chances are that you will get multi-offers/interest. I think that Johnson embodies this at the moment. She is really versatile on both sides of the ball with her athletic ability. She can be moved around to almost any spot and she is going to show her worth in more ways than one before that contest is over. On this team, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was placed at the 2 or 3. She won’t be the tallest with this group but she will be one of the most athletic, making up for height in most situations. I’m excited to see what Johnson can do on a competitive floor. She put together a nice Freshman season of high school ball this past season but now she is ready to take that play to a whole other level.
What I love about Jayda Richardson Jayda Richardson 5’7″ | PG Papillion-LaVista | 2027 NE ‘s game is that she EATS on the defensive side of the ball. Richardson is one of those prospects that just knows where the opponent wants to go with the rock. She does a fantastic job of jumping to the pass and anticipating what is about to happen next, usually leading to steals and easy buckets. In transition once one of these steals happens, Richardson gets down the floor in a short amount of time with her impressive speed from baseline-to-baseline, ending the play in an easy bucket for herself or a teammate up ahead. Don’t get me wrong, she is a threat offensively as well but I think she is going to make her money on the defensive side of the floor this Spring/Summer. If she can do that early on in the season, it’s going to be really hard to pull her off the floor when it matters the most.
Elise Pederson Elise Pederson 6’0″ | SF Omaha Westside | 2027 NE is going to be one of this team’s enforcers in the middle of the lane. Pederson has always had size along with great balance and knowledge of situation basketball. At the same time, she has also really progressed as she has gotten older. Two years ago, you would not think that Pederson would make this ETG 15U line up in my opinion. She was a bigger body but that was about it. This past six months though, she has really locked in and grown into her own. She has gained a softer touch on the ball, coordination on the catch or pass, and she communicates with everyone else around her on the floor at an impressive rate. The most important part of a prospect moving into a successful AAU program is their fit. As long as Pederson plays aggressively but calculated, she is going to do just fine and even be this groups standout player at times.

One of the more promising talents that this group has to offer comes to us in the form of Forward, Ansley Elofson Ansley Elofson 6’0″ | PF Fort Calhoun | 2027 NE . Elofson is a 6’0 Forward, that can pass, score, defend, and rebound with the best of them. She has a fundamental game but it’s crafty and somewhat tricky at times. She can shoot it from all three levels with a picture perfect shooting stroke, she can pass up the floor with her vision, and she make something happen out of nowhere when her team may need it. After studying this line-up, I would be surprised if Elofson doesn’t start. She has proven time and time again that she is the real deal when it comes to her play on the hardwood. I think that this player might be the hardest to pull off the floor at any given moment for this group. She truly can do everything at an above average rate and that’s going to be on full display all season long.
The ceiling and promise that Allie John Allie John 6’0″ | SF Bennington | 2028 NE has shown up until this point in her career is very impressive. John may only be an 8th grader but she has the combination that every coach loves at this point. She has height, skill, and a high motor. All in all, she is a project that can do a number of different things to help her team win. This AAU season she will be another player asked to protect the middle, while being able to step out to three point line to spread the floor. Defensively, she will be at her best when protecting the basket but she can also stick with some smaller players on the perimeter if she needs to on a switch. The future that John holds in this game is bright. She could turn out to be the best overall prospect from this squad at the end of the day but we are still a few years from figuring that out. Right now she is just worried on the goal in front of her and that is putting together an AAU season to remember.

I’ve had the chance to see Kalyn Scamman Kalyn Scamman 5’9″ | PG Shenandoah | 2028 IA a few different times now and every time, she seems to get better. Scamman is another prospect from the 2028 Class playing up and for good reason. She is a smooth and crafty operator with the ball in her hands but I wouldn’t say that she needs to be ball dominate to have an impact on a contest. Instead, she keeps it simple and takes when the defense is giving her, making it all seem so easy and effortless. To be a standout on this team will be impressive for anyone. The younger prospects are going to have to earn their playing time but either way, I think that they will all be really successful over these next few months, Scamman included.

I am going to be very honest. I’m not too sure about Himayajo Metoyer Himayajo Metoyer 5’5″ | SG TBD | 2028 NE and her game, as I’ve only seen very little of it but what I did see, was impressive. Metoyer is a smaller guard, who can run her team’s offense in a number of different ways but with this team, I’m sure she is going to be playing the PG spot a majority of the time when she see’s the floor. She stands right around 5’5 and she has a quick first step that is hard for any defender to stay in-front of while in both the half-court and full-court. As long as she keeps the handle tight and takes care of the matchup in front of her, she is going to have another great season. She is a prospect out of the 2028 Class playing up so this experience is going to do her wonders in the long run. That’s for sure.
Liberty Province Liberty Province 5’9″ | CG Kearney | 2027 NE is a glue-type player, that is a multi-sport athlete in her off time. She is a prospect that seems to keep everyone together and in the correct mindset, no matter what sport she is playing and I can’t wait to see that first hand over these next few months. Province is a go-getter, a hard worker, and a heck of a teammate. When things aren’t going her way, instead of getting upset and pouting, she adapts and keeps everyone locked in. This is going to be needed if this group wants to have an AAU season to remember and compete for a national title by the end of the Summer.
