This week marks the NCAA's second year for a "scholastic live period" in June, when prospects are allowed to participate in individual and team events operated by either their state's association or their state's coaches' association. In Indiana, the IHSAA allows the IBCA to operate said events, and last year the Top-100 individual showcase and the team showcase went over very well with college coaches, as Indiana was one of just 18 states to take advantage of the "scholastic live period".

On Friday & Saturday, June 14 & 15, the IBCA will host the second annual Charlie Hughes team showcase for girls at a combination of Hamilton Southeastern High School, plus Mt. Vernon (Fortville) High School and Middle School. 93 teams from around the state have chosen to participate, with games beginning as early as 9:00 a.m. Friday morning. Below is a quick look at the teams in Pools F through J, with a top prospect for each team, a "sleeper" prospect or top newcomer for each team, and one player from each pool to especially keep an eye on.

KEEP AN EYE ON...Penn Junior-to-be forward [player_tooltip player_id='670343' first='Anna' last='Sachire'] (2026). At 6-1, Anna has good height, length, and mobility, plus skill at all three levels. She has had some really nice outings thus far this Spring, and I'm curious to see her in her high school environment. She can put it on the floor and get somewhere productively, she has touch in the mid-post, and she can knock down the occasional 3-pointer, when set and in rhythm. She also does a really nice job of using her length at the defensive end of the floor, plus she is an active rebounder.

KEEP AN EYE ON...Center Grove Senior-to-be front-liner [player_tooltip player_id='692242' first='Emerson' last='Vlcan'] (2025). Emerson has always flashed really nice potential, as she is 6-2, incredibly long, fluidly athletic, and somewhat bouncy. The Trojans were Senior-heavy this past season, so her opportunities were limited, but look for her to have a major impact moving forward. She isn't a traditional back-to-the-basket post, but she can play facing the basket in the mid-post, and she looks to knock down the 15-footer or drive it to the rim. I also like her willingness to be physical and aggressive defensively.

KEEP AN EYE ON...North Central Senior-to-be guard [player_tooltip player_id='295787' first='Gabrielle' last='Burrus'] (2025). Gabby has been a Varsity performer for a couple of years and understands how everything works, but minus the graduation of a couple of key 2024s, she will now be entrusted to have the ball in her hands even more to lead a talented but inexperienced group of underclassmen. Gabby is quick, shifty, and savvy. She can bury shots with range from the outside, and she does a nice job of attacking a defense, drawing defenders, and kicking to open teammates. She could have a big Senior year.

KEEP AN EYE ON...Bishop Chatard Senior-to-be post [player_tooltip player_id='692233' first='Anna' last='Caskey'] (2025). The 6-0 front-liner is a strong, extremely physical player who loves to control the interior. She plays with an attitude that rubs off on her teammates, and Chatard can be a very difficult team to score the basketball against. Anna scored it much more consistently this past Winter, and I'm curious to see if she can't continue that progression in the coming months. She will have to learn how to play with transfer [player_tooltip player_id='751060' first='Gianna' last='Morelli'] (2027), plus Caskey is committed to Belmont University for softball.

KEEP AN EYE ON...Columbia City Junior-to-be guard [player_tooltip player_id='486514' first='Anisa' last='Tonkel'] (2026). Anisa has proven over the last couple of years that the talent and skill are both there. Now, with a number of 2024 departures due to graduation, she suddenly becomes the clear "#2" to Indiana Junior All-Star [player_tooltip player_id='295754' first='Addison' last='Baxter']. Wins won't come as easily in 2024-2025, but they should still be there for the taking, and a lot will depend on Tonkel's talent and versatility. As a strong guard, she could very well average 14-15 points, 6-7 rebounds, and 2-3 steals per game, and they would welcome it.
