With the new enrollment cutoff in regard to the IHSAA's 2024-2025 classification restructure, each of the four classes will look a bit different. Still, there should be a lot of familiar matchups in Class 3A. Below is a quick look at what to expect out of Sectionals #25 through #28 this week, along with a key player or two for each team.

PGH Sectional Favorite: Danville Community
Top Challengers: Tri-West, Brebeuf Jesuit

Analysis: Danville is 17-5 overall, 4-0 against Sectional #25 opponents, and all five losses have come at the hands of Class 4A teams. They have a nice mixture of veterans and talented youth, led by Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='626931' first='Addison' last='Davis'] (14.9p, 6.7r, 2.0a, 2.6s) and [player_tooltip player_id='295784' first='Emma' last='Ancelet'] (14.5p, 5.7r, 7.2a, 3.5s). [player_tooltip player_id='486529' first='Maddy' last='Wethington'] (11.2p) is a third double-digit scorer for the Warriors, who look to win their second consecutive Sectional title after making it to the Class 3A Final Four in 2024. Tri-West and Brebeuf could prove challenging, as Tri-West is a big rival for the Warriors, while Brebeuf has welcomed the return of talented Sophomore wing [player_tooltip player_id='751073' first='Jailen' last='Bowling'] (12.8p, 3.7r in 10 games) from a knee injury. She could be a game-changer for the Lady Braves.

PGH Sectional Favorite: Cathedral
Top Challenger: Bishop Chatard

Analysis: Cathedral defeated Bishop Chatard 48-45 just a couple of weeks ago, and playing at home should favor the Irish once again. Senior guards [player_tooltip player_id='496026' first='Jaeda' last='Wilson'] (10.9p, 3.6r) and [player_tooltip player_id='776078' first='Tianna' last='Guy'] (9.8p, 2.8r) have been strong all year, plus Freshman forward [player_tooltip player_id='926326' first='Caroline' last='Wiggins'] (9.0p, 5.4r, 2.1s) has been a nice addition to the lineup in 2024-2025. They are the team to beat, but don't put it past Chatard to give them a battle. The Trojans have postseason experience and several Juniors and Seniors contributing. [player_tooltip player_id='692233' first='Anna' last='Caskey'] (14.4p, 15.9r) is a problem around the paint, while [player_tooltip player_id='832685' first='Olivia' last='Berzai'] (11.0p, 5.9r, 3.2a, 2.4s) and [player_tooltip player_id='486530' first='Alyx' last='Kendall'] (10.5p, 3.5r) add height and versatility to the lineup. Also keep an eye on Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='331774' first='Kamrah' last='Banks'] (26.4p, 5.4r, 2.9s) of Crispus Attucks, who can pour in the points in a hurry.

PGH Sectional Favorite: Northview
Top Challengers: Cascade, Speedway

Analysis: The Northview Lady Knights have three really good players in [player_tooltip player_id='570371' first='Brynlee' last='Clarke'] (14.6p, 5.5r), [player_tooltip player_id='834965' first='Carlee' last='Schrader'] (13.6p, 5.5r, 2.5a, 3.0s), and [player_tooltip player_id='486472' first='Reagin' last='White'] (8.4p, 4.0r, 4.2a). They can score on you inside, make shots outside, or attack the basket off the dribble and the cut. They are a solid favorite in Sectional #27, and they have already defeated Cascade by 15 points. Cascade and Speedway are the best challengers, but they will need big nights to take care of Northview. Cascade gets a balanced effort, with four players scoring in double figures, while Speedway has talented Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='884402' first='Madelynn' last='Matelic'] (13.3p, 6.1r, 3.3s) leading their attack.

PGH Sectional Favorite: Roncalli
Top Challenger: New Palestine

Analysis: Roncalli has a really nice collection of guards, per usual, this season, and they have already beaten New Palestine and Beech Grove. The Royals are led by Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='716615' first='Elliot' last='Leffler'] (17.0p, 5.6r), with help from [player_tooltip player_id='486513' first='Brennah' last='Cerny'] (9.5p, 2.6r, 3.1a, 2.9s) and [player_tooltip player_id='296265' first='Sara' last='Rosko'] (9.0p, 3.5r, 2.7a, 2.6s). The Royals play hard, aggressive, and they can knock down shots from a number of positions. Look for them to be the team to beat in Sectional #28. New Palestine has the best shot at challenging them, and they play with a great deal of balance. With no go-to player, it's difficult to determine who's going to beat you, but at the same time, who is taking the tough shots late? Sadey Hughbanks (9.3p, 3.9r), Kylee Beranek (6.8p, 6.3r), and Gabrielle Brown (6.6p, 3.1r, 2.9a) are the most productive Dragons in the rotation.
