A few days ago saw the second live period of the 2026 grassroots basketball season take place. As one could expect with the litany of talent from the Palmetto State, South Carolina more than made its presence known.

With Live Period events taking places in states such as North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana and Arizona, there were more than enough opportunities for many of the premier talents from the Palmetto State to showcase their skills in front of college coaches.

A number of those names that did just that get the job done as guards. We shine a spotlight on a number of those ones and twos here.

Pojani is continuing to translate the momentum she had from this past season's SCISA 4A championship with First Baptist into a solid 2026 travel campaign with Tennessee-based FBC Reign 2028. It was one of the many teams that was on hand at Live at Lakepoint in Georgia. Pojani averaged 25 points per game this past weekend in the Peach State in addition to eight rebounds. In one game this past weekend, Pojani tallied 35 points. These performances occurred against top-tier competition as well. She averaged 22.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 3.7 assists this past season with the Hurricanes. Pojani also recently secured an offer from Western Carolina.

Speaking of First Baptist, the 2026-27 version of the defending SCISA 4A champions could be even more dangerous as Elliott will wear its uniform when November arrives. [program_tooltip program_id='988463' first='Mosch' last='Ball'] took part in the Atlantic City Showcase and displayed many of the talents that has made her a top-tier prospect – particularly her ability to drain her attempts from 3-point range. Elliott's ability to create offense with defense is another element to her game that has earned her a noteworthy statewide profile. She made five 3-pointers for a 15-point performance to earn [program_tooltip program_id='988463' first='Mosch' last='Ball'] a 57-31 victory over Hartford Shockers on Saturday morning.

We transition from one [program_tooltip program_id='988463' first='Mosch' last='Ball'] prospect to another who is also representing the Warriors of Wando – this past season's 5A Division 1 Lower State champions. [program_tooltip program_id='988463' first='Mosch' last='Ball'] was one of many teams among the 17U division that concluded its time in Atlantic City 4-0. One of [program_tooltip program_id='988463' first='Mosch' last='Ball']'s contests took place against NYC Bulldogs. Her team earned a 58-33 victory in large part because of Reynolds' 17 points. She also had an 18-point performance to begin the weekend as [program_tooltip program_id='988463' first='Mosch' last='Ball'] earned a 67-34 victory over Albany Hurricanes. Reynolds averaged 12.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and three steals in her sophomore season with Wando.

It was only fitting that a stellar performance in Georgia would lead to Dates securing an offer from a Division I Peach State school. That school was Georgia Tech and Dates adds that to the Florida offer she received at the start of the month. She always keeps a consistent game face on and her talent perfectly compliments the attitude she brings to every game she plays in. From her ability to finish strong at the rim to keeping her arms and hands outstretched on defense to her ability to draw contact and get to the free throw line, one can see why Dates has a built a national profile as a Power 4 prospect. She led her Goose Creek team to the 5A Division 2 Lower State championship game and averaged 20 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest last season.

Lucas proudly wore the CP3 Flames uniform this past weekend as she was in New Orleans for Nike Girls EYBL Session Two. Her performance in the Crescent City was a perfect example of what to do even when the shots are not falling. Lucas managed to help her team as a ball distributor, rebounder and as a collector of steals. She recently earned York County Basketball Player of the Year honors for 2026. Lucas has been playing at the varsity level since she was a seventh and played in 29 games throughout the 2025-26 season for 4A South Pointe. She averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 steals and 5.3 steals per game this past season.

Ligon was on hand at the Greensboro Coliseum for Insider Exposure's Beast of the East event. She proudly wore the Better Built Basketball uniform during her weekend in the Hoop State. Ligon was difficult to contend with between her 3-point shooting capabilities in addition to what she managed to get accomplished as an attacker of the basket. Distributing the ball is another one of Ligon's many strengths. Ligon first played at the varsity level as a seventh grader with 5A Mauldin. This past season, she competed in all 26 of the Mavericks' games on a team that finished with a record of 22-4. She averaged 7.3 points, 3.6 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game this past season.

Lombana's many talents were on full display as she and her [program_tooltip program_id='715412' first='SC' last='Eagles'] 17U team called the foothills of the north Georgia mountains home this past weekend. She and her team competed in four games over the weekend. Lombana possesses the 3-point shooting capabilities of a two guard along with the ball-handling skills of someone who plays the point. She understands the right times to score and the right times to pass and can leave many opposing ball-carriers turnover prone with her defense. Lombana played in all 25 games this past season for Riverside which is moving from 5A to 4A next season. She averaged 8.2 points per game in 2025-26.

Among the many teams that spent their weekends in New Orleans was Essence Savannah 17U. Brown helped the team to a 3-1 weekend. She understands when the right times are to attack and to pass and is every bit a defensive playmaker as she is on the offensive end of the floor. While Brown typically is in a team's lineup at either one of the guard spots, she can also find time in the frontcourt as a small forward. Her 4A Beaufort team had a banner season in 2025-26 in large part because of Brown's heroics. The Eagles finished 21-5, won its region by going a perfect 10-0 and advanced to the Lower State semifinals. She averaged 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and three steals last season in the 23 games she played.

Wright was the lone eighth grader on last season's 4A Lower Richland team coached by Morgan Stroman. Her performance with [program_tooltip program_id='713672' first='Palmetto' last='Pressure'] this past weekend indicates that Wright is poised for even more playing time – both during high school ball and the travel season. [program_tooltip program_id='713672' first='Palmetto' last='Pressure'] was on hand at the NE2K Classic in Louisville. Wright played up in class in the 16U field and delivered solid performances. She finished with 11 points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds in a contest against City Elite. Wright also added 12 points, three assists, three rebounds and one steal in a game against TSP Smith. Wright would score 10 points, dish out five assists and haul in a pair of rebounds in a contest with Lincoln Elite.

Adams and her AEBL Girlz 16U EYBL team was on hand at Session 2 in New Orleans. She participated in five games over the weekend in Louisiana. One of those contests took place on Saturday against a tough out in Team Durant. Adams is known throughout the Palmetto State as one of the premier sharpshooters in the state and that was on display in the closing moments of that contest as she splashed home a 3-pointer to earn AEBL Girlz 16U EYBL the 50-47 victory. She is set to be the centerpiece of St. Joseph's Catholic over the next couple of seasons as the Knights drop from 3A to 2A. Adams and her team went 3-2 over the weekend.

Godfrey is another that was able to take in the sights and sounds of New Orleans over the weekend with [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite']. She took part in five contests this past weekend with the 17U team. A defense has to watch Godfrey when she has the ball behind the 3-point line as she is likely to take and make her 3-point attempts. Godfrey also knows how to make the right defensive rights and convert an opposing team's turnover into additional offensive possessions for her team. Ball-handling is also among Godfrey's strengths. She played in all 26 games this past season for 5A River Bluff and averaged 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

Still has had experience playing on the junior varsity team at Dorman. Last season's varsity Cavaliers graduated four seniors. Her play during this year's travel campaign has set herself up well for a varsity call up. It is appropriate that she wears zero for her travel schedule considering how zeroed in she remains at all times when she is on the court. Shooting outside jumpers is among the many strong points to Still's game as is the ability to attack the basket and finish with her left hand. Drawing contact that can place her at the free throw line is another plus to her skillset.

Freeman was another notable from [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] that had herself a productive weekend at Nike EYCL Session 2 in New Orleans. Her team finished 3-2 over the weekend and one of those games was a competitive 61-55 victory over Winners United 17U EYCL. Freeman would finish with seven points in that contest. A highlight of Freeman's from that matchup occurred late in the second quarter when she drained a go-ahead triple that allowed [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] to assume a 57-55 lead over Winners United 17U EYCL. Freeman's team would close the contest with a 7-0 run. Freeman would average 9.9 points, 3.6 steals, 3.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds for a 4A Gray Collegiate team that finished this past season with a 22-6 record. Coach Brandon Wallace's War Eagles will move up to 5A beginning with the 2026-27 season.

A few days ago saw the second live period of the 2026 grassroots basketball season take place. As one could expect with the litany of talent from the Palmetto State, South Carolina more than made its presence known.
