Bystry, Karina: (noun) one of the elite shooting/defending/rebounding wings in the state.
Bystry just keeps doing stuff that is surprising to only those that aren’t really aware….but for those who’ve seen her work ethic, you aren’t surprised at all.
Bystry went OFF for 33 first half points, and finished 42 points (on 7/8 from three) in only 3 quarters of action. She finished one short of the school record. She added 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The kid is ELITE.
The duo of Bystry and Molly Masingale Molly Masingale 5’9″ | SF McMinn Co. | 2024 State TN is perhaps the best backcourt in the state.
Emma Cooper
Emma Cooper
Cooper is a wildcard of sorts for York. York has all the components to make a deep run into state, and they are playing really good basketball. In their first round win last night, four players scored in double figures. Emma Cooper is an “x factor” because of her game changing length. Cooper gives York an added weapon, and matchup situation to exploit. You want to head into the post-season with as many tools in the tool belt as possible….and Emma Cooper gives York another dimension.
I’ve always been a big fan of Armes’ game. She has great length, and pretty form, and all the makings of a nice 3 and D wing at her size. She had a big night on Thursday as she led Midway to another District Championship beating Harriman 50-45. Armes had 14 points and 2 blocks. Kyleigh Cawood Kyleigh Cawood 5’6″ | PG Midway | 2026 State TN , the district MVP, had 12 points and 12 rebounds in the win. It’s been a really nice year for Midway and that tightly knit basketball community.
Highlights
Maryville Christian came up short to Mount Pisgah (38-40) last night. Kaybrie Patterson had 12 points and 4 rebounds. Haylee Dunmoyer had a nice line continuing her recently high level of play: 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. This Maryville Christian program is certainly headed in a positive direction under Coach Hudson’s leadership.
Highlights
Emmy Lowe dropped 20 points and 5 steals in only 15 minutes of action in Thursday night’s Pickett win. Zoey Nicholas, the district MVP, had 14 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds. Pickett is playing great team basketball with LOTS of weapons.
Cleveland HS defeated McMinn County to advance to the district championship on Monday. In the victory, Lauren Hurst scored her 1,000th career point. For a kid that happens to be a Gatorade Player of the Year in Volleyball during her spare time….putting together a 1,000 point career and a top 60 ranking on ESPN isn’t shabby either.
Carmicheal helped Clinton survive a scare on Thursday night. She had a dominant second half, scoring 13 points after Clinton was trailing by 9. She finished with 21 points. Addi Gamble Addi Gamble 5’6″ | SG Clinton | 2026 State TN gave great energy defensively in the comeback, and also chipped in 11 points. Nice gutsy team win. Survive and advance….
Neubert led Farragut in their 1st round win over William Blount. She was dominant with 17, Annie Priest Annie Priest 5’7″ | SG Farragut | 2025 State TN had 12, and freshman Trinity Curry Trinity Curry 5’11” | C Farragut | 2027 TN had 7. KJ McNealy KJ McNealy 6’0″ | SG Farragut | 2026 State TN gave her normal defensive and rebounding impact without having to score much this evening
This Farragut team is peaking at the right time!
Nevaeh Brooks
Nevaeh Brooks
The junior guard exploded for 24 points in Clarksville Christian’s win over FRCS to head to the TSIAA D1 Championship on Saturday. If Brooks is giving them 24 points, plus you have Lauren Hassell Lauren Hassell 6’2″ | PF Clarksville Christian | 2027 TN (18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block), and Marley Spiers (10 points, 14 rebounds), they become nearly unbeatable.
Amaya Nash was superb for Oakland as they beat Rockvale (56-40) to advance to their district championship game versus Blackman. She ran the show with confidence, and despite a few Rockvale runs, Oakland seemed to never feel too uneasy in the win. Alonna Poole Alonna Poole 5’11” | SF Oakland | 2024 State TN had 17 points and 8 rebounds. Kaydence Wisniewski Kaydence Wisniewski 5’9″ | SG Oakland | 2025 State TN had 14. Loving how this team is playing.
Jade Watson, Rockvale’s stud ’27, had 20 on the night.
Blackman is coming on strong at the right time, beating Riverdale 51-11 to advance to the district championship game versus Oakland. Mariah Okorie had 6 points and 10 rebounds with excellent defensive rim protection. Kaelyn Flowers Kaelyn Flowers 5’6″ | PG Blackman | 2024 State TN had 15, and Aaiyanna Dunbar Aaiyanna Dunbar 6’2″ | C Blackman | 2024 State TN had 10 points (both in very limited minutes).
Walls led Mount Pisgah to a win over Maryville Christian, and ’25 Kaylynn Walls Kaylynn Walls 5’10” | PF Mount Pisgah Christian Academy | 2025 State TN was dominant. She finished the night with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks. She was also 3/10 from 3….anytime a coach is letting a kid shoot 10 threes in a game it means they’ve likely earned the green light in practice. Kaylynn Walls Kaylynn Walls 5’10” | PF Mount Pisgah Christian Academy | 2025 State TN is legit…..
Shikuku has put together a tremendous season for Colliersville. The ’25 was named All-District first team, and surpassed the 1,000 point She’s a legitmate 2-way player with nice defensive intangibles and a diverse offensive game. I know she can get buckets….she she can also distribute the ball as a playmaker. She recently had a 13 assists performance, proving she’s more than just a scorer and defender. Kid can really play…
