The northeastern Oklahoma team spent their break up in Kansas City with two wins at the Hyvee's 12 Courts of Christmas event. It was a good bounce back for Pyror, as prior to Christmas they lost a pair to district foes Rogers and Coweta. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='315201' first='Maggie' last='Martin'] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='918265' first='Anna' last='Raymond'] are a pair to keep an eye as they look to make up ground in district play. Raymond has been a stat sheet stuffer this year, including 17 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals in a win over McAlester. Martin is a long armed wing-forward. Who is a double-double threat and unafraid to mix it up on defense. The Lady Tigers have a chance to keep the momentum rolling this week with a district game against Tahlequah, followed up by three games at the Oologah tournament.

9. Tulsa Rogers 6-2

The Lady Ropers were tripped up a couple times at the loaded tournament field in Bixby, but are currently flawless against 5A foes. Dynamic senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='876592' first='Saniyah' last='Morrison'] is one of the best scorers in 5A and fills up the full stat sheet. Fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='896391' first='Lynzie' last='Overstreet'] is a skilled scorer, who is also picking up JuCo offers along with Morrison. Similar to a lot of top 5A teams, they'll find themselves in Ada for quality tests before district play really ramps back up. Circle the calendar for January 14th, with a pivotal trip to Coweta. That match up very well could decide the District 4 crown.

8. Midwest City 7-2

A good start to the season, but a double digit loss to Mid-Del and district rival Del City has given them some ground to make up in efforts to be a Regional host. Otherwise they've handled business against fellow Class 5A teams. Before district play starts back up, including a big clash with Classen SAS, they'll be headed to a strong field in Ada. Bouncy senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1108137' first='Layla' last='Jones'] and gritty junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1132273' first='Mya' last='Anderson'] are among the key Lady Bombers who will give them a chance to continue to make noise this season.

7. Shawnee 5-1

The only blemish for the Lady Wolves came against power house El Reno. The strength of their backcourt duo, senior [player_tooltip player_id='331864' first='Josie' last='Megehee'] and junior [player_tooltip player_id='572460' first='Daley' last='Rice'] gives them the offensive firepower to compete with anyone in the class. They have an opportunity this week to test themselves by hosting against district foe Booker T Washington. A win would shake up Class 5A and more importantly give Shawnee an inside track to the District 3 title. After that, it's a weekend in Ada as they look to replicate a State Tournament experience with three wins in three days.

6. Classen SAS 7-1

New coach, new names, new classification, none of it has phased a Classen team that has put up impressive wins and strong individual numbers. Junior Makyia Moore has thrived in a staring role, as along with scoring has been a stat sheet stuffer who impacts the game in a multitude of ways. Often joining her to provide a scoring punch is fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id='846970' first='Paige' last='Williams']. Williams has scored over 20 points multiple times this year. Against Oklahoma competition, they're currently undefeated. With a crucial upcoming stretch. Later this week, they'll be down in Anadarko with a Class 6A match up against Choctaw to start it off down there. If they win that, then they'll likely get to spar with the defending Class 5A champs, El Reno. All that is a good warm up before they meet top district foes next week, Del City on the 14th and Midwest City on the 17th.

5. Del City 6-1

The Eagles are full of a variety of ways to hurt the opposition. [player_tooltip player_id='802036' first='Shelby' last='Thornton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1109013' first='Saniya' last='Bonds'] can dominate the interior. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='642354' first='Kamyiah' last='Morgan'] has put up huge numbers as a sharpshooter from deep. Add in potential gamebreaker freshmen [player_tooltip player_id='917364' first='Jaciah' last='McCalister'] and [player_tooltip player_id='913684' first='Paris' last='Baker'], and they have a full squad ready for another State Tournament appearance. They even have claimed a Class 6A win against Norman North, a game where they looked a clear cut above a good 6A squad. An early win against their rivals Del City has put them in a strong position to take control of District 2. But circle the calendar for next Tuesday's tilt with Classen SAS, as both are undefeated in district play.

4. Carl Albert 8-0

Carl Albert is taking care of business and stacking wins, only one team has played them to within double digits. And they've even taken down a couple of 6A squads during this strong start. This week is a big test as they head north for the Bartlesville tournament. 6A match ups are on the horizon, starting with Stillwater and potentially Bartlesville or Broken Arrow. Or even a possible match up with Mid-Del districts rivals Del City. This week is a chance for Carl Albert to keep the momentum rolling going into the heart of district play. Especially as they look most likely to challenge El Reno in District 1. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='578039' first='Audrey' last='Plunkett'] has a been a consistent force for the Lady Titans and is among the best players in Class 5A.

3. Coweta 7-1

Last year's 5A semifinalist only loss this season came at the hands of 6A Mustang. They've held serve in district play and even went on the road and beat top 4A team Glenpool. With senior leaders and a rising sophomore star in [player_tooltip player_id='606266' first='Gia' last='Dennis'], they have the full recipe for another trip to the 5A State Tournament. Dennis is a speedy transition threat, and helps break down opponents in the halfcourt for the quality shooters around her. A big upcoming match up against Rogers might just decide the District 4 crown.

2. El Reno 7-0

It's admittedly a little weird to slot in a team that's won 35 straight game at the second spot. Especially as recent years have proven that the Lady Indians are one of the standard bearers in 5A. Their returning core of [player_tooltip player_id='315196' first='Lilly' last='Thomas'], [player_tooltip player_id='315203' first='Raegan' last='Bugaj'] and Emmary Elizondo are as good as any in the state. Thomas in particular is a match up nightmare with her skill on the low block, her vision as a passer and ability to step out and hit jumpers. They've gone about the season handling business again, including a double digit win against possible 5A State Tournament team, Shawnee. Even with big district games, and in season tournament trips to Andarko and Shawnee, this 5A powerhouse is expected to keep racking up the wins and be in strong position to defend their crown.

1. Booker T Washington 10-0

The Lady Hornets take an early grasp of the top spot due to the strength of wins over two of Class 6A's best squads (Broken Arrow and Bixby) and elite 4A squad Lincoln Christian. Those wins were pivotal for early season tournament championships at Bixby and the Tournament of Champions. On paper they looked to be the deepest squad in 5A and so far they are backing it up on the court. [player_tooltip player_id='309984' first='Marcayla' last='Johnson'] is living ever bit up to her star billing. [player_tooltip player_id='556048' first='Rhyian' last='Mayberry'] looks to join her older sisters who also won Gold while at the Hive. [player_tooltip player_id='556050' first='Tierra' last='Owens'] is an exciting difference maker on both ends of the court. [player_tooltip player_id='751190' first='Kashae' last='Brown'] is fresh off all all tournament honors at the Tournament of Champions, and is part of an exciting sophomore group that helps provide their elite depth. With two in season tournament titles under their belt, the Hornets are flying as they head into the heart of their schedule.
