2024-2025 Class 3A Preseason Awards

After spending the past couple of weeks previewing each of the 16 Sectionals in Class 3A, I wanted to take a look at who I think could be the better individuals in Indiana throughout the 2024-2025 season. Using examples from college preview magazines, below I've assembled a variety of preseason awards, preseason all-state teams, plus a preseason honorable mention section. I've given last year's performances and statistics some consideration, but the players below are listed based specifically on how I think they will perform this season. (All statistics below are from the 2023-2024 season, unless otherwise noted.)   .   TOP CLASS 3A AWARDS   These preseason awards are an attempt at honoring girls who I think could stand out in Class 3A. Typically, there are multiple candidates for each award, and every award can be easily debated, but I chose the individuals below based on who I thought filled each description best. Each award is determined through different criteria, as some awards are based primarily on opinion, while others are decided with a heavy influence from statistical merit.   Most Outstanding Player: [player_tooltip player_id='486543' first='Brooklynn' last='Renn'], 2026, 6-3 F, Silver Creek H.S. - The meaning of most outstanding player to me points to the best all-around basketball player, regardless of team quality, depth, etc. With regard to Brooklynn, I feel like at an early age you could see the potential in her game, and what's scary is, she still hasn't reached her full potential. I also feel like she's one of those kids who, despite holding multiple high-major Division I offers, too many people like to pick her game apart. Each year she has significantly improved some part of her game, plus she seems to grow an inch each year. At 6-3, she runs the floor extremely well, she has gone from a back-to-the-basket post to a face-up '4' who is athletic enough to even defend some wings/bigger guards around the perimeter. She has also developed her handle and perimeter touch enough to be a threat outside. She can be a real problem.   Most Valuable Player: [player_tooltip player_id='295754' first='Addison' last='Baxter'], 2025, 5-9 G, Columbia City H.S. - As opposed to the most outstanding player award, to me at least, the most valuable player award leans more towards the idea of if you removed this player from their team, how would their team continue to perform. Addison has always been talented and skilled, but a season ago there was a lot more depth on the Eagles' roster. They are still competitive in 2024-2025, and Addison has been a big reason for their success, in the past, and especially today. She has a tireless work ethic, a competitive fire, plus she has tremendous ball skill and a high IQ/feel for the game. She can create and find open teammates, she can get downhill and finish, and she is a very good perimeter shooter with added range now that she has gotten stronger. She is committed to Butler University, and she should be able to come in and help their resurgence.   Most Outstanding Newcomer: [player_tooltip player_id='331774' first='Kamrah' last='Banks'], 2026, 5-9 G, Crispus Attucks H.S. - Kamrah is not a newcomer to the state of Indiana, but she is a newcomer to Crispus Attucks. She last played in Indiana as a Freshman at Decatur Central, before transferring to a prep school in Florida for the 2023-2024 season. Now back, she is an explosive scorer who can fill it up from most spots on the floor. Since I first saw her in 7th Grade, she has grown about three inches and gotten much stronger and more physical at the point of attack. She does a nice job of getting defenders on her hip and earning repeated trips to the free throw line. It might take a minute for the new/different pieces at Crispus Attucks to gel this season, but Kamrah should be a consistent scorer most nights, regardless, because she understands how to create space and get downhill. Beware of the green & gold, because the Tigers are competitive again.   . CLASS 3A ALL-STATE TEAMS   Like the awards above, this was another attempt to honor girls who could stand out in Class 3A during the 2024-2025 season. These teams were selected based on equal parts talent, skill, potential, statistical accomplishments, and team accomplishments. While we can debate who should be where, I do think it's at least easy to understand why each of the players listed below were selected to be honored. Disclaimer: Freshmen were not considered for the All-State teams, only Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, however I have highlighted a few Freshmen in the Honorable Mention section. Freshmen will be included in the Postseason Awards in March, once they have had the opportunity to put in a full Varsity season.
